Alright. Let me begin by simply saying this: This is a bad idea.
Not because "there will be consequences", or "the community will be sad", but because you have a game with incredible potential and you're just... throwing it away.
i realize that this post will do literally nothing to change things, but to hell with it, im posting it anyway.
The community wants to see this game live on, and we (or at least, i ) am willing to help.
I don't know what happened, but PLEASE.
there are rumors that the subreddit killed it, there are rumors that the discord killed it.
please listen to us when we say that we dont want to see this game die like this. not this soon.

Edit: Hey EA, notice how after you posted the announcement that the game was essentially getting the last update, the forums exploded with activity, people BEGGING you not to discontinue updating this game. People love this game and want to see it grow. Don't let it die like this.
I didn't pay $80 to see a game live and die within a year.
You're making a HUGE mistake here, EA. if you just take a look around, you'll see a huge amount of people that want to see this game grow. don't do this to us. don't shatter our spirits like this.
