[Feedback] For the love of god, can the GW2 team please revert the AC?

I speak for ALL of the community, everyone from discord, reddit whatever just wants the game reverted pre anti-cheat update that happened a month ago. I don't have to go into detail about why, overall performance drops, the missed mark (again) to prevent cheating, the inability to play on other platforms (steamdeck- gfn), and most importantly the inability for regular players who play the game to even LOAD in. Overall just a hassle, and all for what exactly? just imagine buying this game as a new player and now you have to search online just to find how to open the dang game (its sad, especially for this game). I just hope the team knows that although they might have been trying to cut the effort and make the situation for banning in game a long-term solution with the AC, they really did not have to do all this. Especially with the anti-cheat system used, it just doesn't make sense- the game that was before the march patch was in a FINE state. Sure, people complain about skids all the time, but the reality is there isn't enough skids to completely flood and grief the game on a daily basis; that's ignoring the fact that the game was being maintained to a certain degree by the community itself. It's no question GW2 is one of EA's abandoned games, although there's obviously no division tasked to fully support the game with content and maintenance there was certainly no reason to commit to 'fixing' GW2. when the team semi-fixed with unban waves it was more than enough help. point is if the game is reverted and just completely ignored of all ea support we will be fine.

  • At first, I was glad that they were responding to the hacker issues that have plagued GW2 for a very long time. However, I have to agree here, as it seems that the hackers are getting it around it anyway, and legitimate players are having issues even getting the game to run. I've been able to play once I turn my anti-virus off, and been sticking to bot matches, but this patch has caused more issues than solving them.

  • @xNinee literally. i havent really had any problems with the anticheat, but a lot of people are. just yesterday i was in a match with a hacker, so no benefit really came out of it.

it's really a bad solution. they just need a votekick system like tf2 tbh, we already have it in garden/graveyard ops but as far as im aware there isnt any in online vs? its weird. so yeah, i think it should be reversed

    Hey, Fokks.

Wanted to jump in and let you know that the feedback has been forwarded to the appropriate teams for review. A lot has been happening with the series on the players and we are trying to get things resolved as quickly as we can.

I continue to forward your feedback as it comes up on the threads. Please keep in mind that support for the series is very limited, so changes may not happen right away. I am pushing for a lot but these calls are out of my hands as well.

Any further updates we will post on the board.

    Cheers!

With all the respect in the world, @EA_Shepard , but every time you say in a thread that you forward our feedback to EA, I imagine an email arriving to an account that no one accesses anymore and has about 7000 unread messages.

@IndominusHumans I understand that it feels that way. I get it. Believe me. Ive had my words with folks about feedback. The thing is [We} Community Managers are not a part of the studio teams for each game. We monitor the forums solely. So any changes that get made or don't get made, those decisions are made in the studio and not for the forums team. We relay information from you to them.

I speak with people on that team almost daily. Our jobs as a CM isn't to fix the game as we are not devs, nor are we able to make decisions for games for the dev teams. I wish I could be in those meetings on what does and does not change but the bottom line is that we are not. I get information from them, I pass it to you, and vice versa.

Until the industry as a whole changes and more folks are embedded into studios, all we can do at the moment is pass along the feedback given by players.

@EA_Shepard I understand your position. I believe it is a mistake for EA to separate the people who work on the game from the forum moderators. But the problem with responses is not just EA's. I've seen this communication problem between companies and players in many other games. I just think that everything you pass on to them ends up in the hands of other people who don't make decisions, but just like you, they are bridges that connect other people. In the case of EA, I think you communicate with a "public relations" person or something like that.

@IndominusHumans You're not wrong. I have a lot of friends in other game companies that I talk to about the exact same issues, and they all say similar things. The industry as a whole, IMO needs to change the ways they communicate in general. When players ask me for an update and I say no update, it is what is handed down to me. It can be frustrating because I play a lot of these games and when I can't like you can't, it gets real frustrating. You are waiting to play, and I am waiting to tell you if or when you can play. That is what I am trying to fix on my end with those folks I speak with.

  • I just got myself a steamdeck and GW 2 at the beginning of October, I’m waiting patiently for EA to make the anticheat be supported on the deck, which likely won’t happen.

My brother is likely going to help me run windows on my deck to play the game. (As I believe it’s the only way to bypass the cheat on deck… correct me if I’m wrong though.) yet he told me the deck isn’t really suited for that but it’s worth a shot with it…

Hi @Averyfunnypun, so essentially no it is not suitable for Steam Deck because of this. Honestly there has been no word on if or when it will because there is no support for the game any longer. We want there to be so we can continue playing but right now there just isnt.
