Finale discussion: Zombopolis

Zombopolis finale

The ultra-Zombot 6000 prepares to launch into battle can the plants stop it before it's too late?

After capturing the trainyard plants must proceed into the mega zombot arena. The zombot is defended by shields hooked into a battery in the room behind it that can be disabled for a short time and leave the zombot vulnerable to attack. Their are four positions to attack: its back, its chest, and its arms. Unlike the mega flower in driftwood shores this giant is not going down without a fight as he will slam his fists onto the ground to try and crush plants and he will shoot super ultra balls from his mouth. Destroying his arms causes them to fall off and he can no longer attack with them. Before the battery room are some teleporters that bring the plants closer to the battery and generally keep out of sight unless zombies press the offensive.

If the plants win an emergency alarm activates within the facility, the scene than shows an imp, who is wearing a VR headset, sleeping in front of two monitors that show the Zombot falling down to the lava and the other giving a thumbs down. Back at the battlefield, the Zombot screams in agony as electricity courses throughout its body. Defeated, it falls chin-first and gives a sad little sniff before dragging itself into the magma below it, destroying it for good.

If zombies win the alarm blares again and the VR imp sleeping in front of two monitors has one showing the Zombot flying in the sky and the other giving a thumbs up. Back at the battlefield, the Zombot happily gives the zombies a thumbs up with whatever arms it has left before it activates its rocket boots. The Zombot then takes off to the sky, solidifying the plants' doomed fate.

The finale can be a little rough however, zombies don't have much incentive to not establish a campground in the battery room and destroying the battery on the back/defending the one in front is an absolute chore. I still really like it and the final music is just absolutely perfect for this setting.

My favorite map in Gw2.

It blends the city setting of Main Street and the finale of driftwood shores except the target fights back. The giant airships constantly flying overhead (I would kill for a airship team vanquish map), the statue of liberty zomboss that gets wrapped up by a giant tentacle, the disco diner disco balls being a fun and interesting gimmick, train hazards returning, the big trouble in little china reference, and zombie police cars in the background constantly blocking off the streets.

This is the largest map in gw2 surpassing seeds of time as the record holder.

The zombots arms create a thumbs up when falling into the lava.

  • This is my favorite TT map in all 3 games. Seeing the city taken over by the zombies and how it all looks is so good. I love how once again, PopCap made a night map that makes it obvious that it is indeed night but you can still what's going on. From the Zomboss of Liberty with the tentacle that wraps around it, to Brain Street in place of Main Street, the trains that can make mincemeat out of the AI in private mode, and that disco ball that makes you dance, this map is simply great.

The finale isn't a favorite; it's not awful, but it's not as fun as many of the others. Luckily they balanced it from what it used to be. It is another campier map, although if the zombies camp too much when the battery is taken out, the plants can devastate the bot's various weak points as the zombies scramble to react. The final cut scenes are great and I always get a chuckle when the bot takes off but it has no hands so the thumbs up still happens but you can't see it!

@Iron_Guard8 It's easily in my top 3 and is an absolute spectacle to look at in almost every detail. i had the ps3 version of gw1 and let me just say that gw2's visual upgrade was very much appreciated.

The trainyard is a pain with the ai as your entire offensive or defensive push gets completely wiped.

I do like how the zombot fights back in the finale compared to other final objectives but it lacks with the battery room being campable.
