Bunny hopping is not uncommon in (most) other FPS. Like I said before you don't need an elite controller to achieve this. As I have done in the past, to be as competitive as my friends, I re mapped my buttons via my console. I had to condition myself to press my bumper buttons to jump instead of A, which was not easy. Then I was able to compete. You can do this too, no need to be a rich kid 🙂
@mikepal19 if it’s not default, it’s lame to me. 90% of people don’t remap, etc.
I would also like to know how to remap on PS4 and better yet, where (or what button) to assign the jump button.
Let’s try not to turn this thread into an argument about controllers. 🤦🏼♂️
EDIT: again - I don’t play other games. Can’t relate.
Food for thought: those other games are trash to me because of mechanics and other conditional perks (such as bunny hopping).

@spIash_damage Not many people remap their buttons because it's hard to overcome the muscle memory you develop on which button jump is. But i WANTED to learn it cuz I was pretty much outclassed and couldn't buy the controllers they had. I looked up the controllers they wanted me to get and there were so many upgradable options, I didn't want to pay that much for it, even the most basic was like 160 or something at the time. Here are options that I used to overcome this
- Bumper jumper configuration for controller
- Stick and move configuration for controller
- Playing claw style (where you use your right pointer finger to pressthe jump button and your right middle finger to fire)
- Get a cheap paddle mod (collective minds). You attach this to where the battery it's and it gives you 2 paddles in the back where you can assign any buttons to it
- Buy one of those off brand controllers that already have buttons in the back (these are generally cheaper than official controllers). You can buy these at best buy.
- Buy those expensive controllers (I used offerup app to find someone near me whoo was selling it for only 80 bucks, practically brand new)
Remap via console (on xbox), go to settings, devices, controller, and you can assign it there. I don't know how to do it on ps4. For bumper jumper, you assign the jump button to LB. For stick n move, you would assign it to the right stick burton. Actually, I don't think you can do this once on xbox (I forgot). I remember this might have been the configuration you can only do it in game.
Lastly, I understand why you would think this mechanic is trash, but it is a normal standard in other fps games. And I know you don't play other games, but that's the reality. There' are distinct movements in EVERY shooter games that causes a skill gap in its community. To be competitive, you HAVE to learn it and get good with it. If you don't want to be that competitive then you don't have to learn it.
Sorry for the long post again lol. Anyways i'm always willing to help anyone who wants to learn it
Edit: btw im not arguing, don't worry lol

@mikepal19 so you’ve been standing steadfast in an argument based on a technicality that doesn’t exist? You CANNOT remap a button like you’re describing.
As far as helping, I’d love to see more videos of your gameplay but only BA.

@spIash_damage are you sure you can't remap buttons? I've personally done it before and a quick Google search would also help.
There's also a link at the bottom on how to remap your ps4 controller also.
And yes, I'll gladly post some BA videos when I get back (lol). I tried it a while back when you told me to try it out. I did well but there wasn't enough good competition given how long I had to wait per match, so I just stopped. I'll probably play more now since it's ranked.
So what type of BA videos did you want to see exactly? Any particular character or just any in general.

@mikepal19 How about you start a thread for your pro videos and remapping tutorials and we can leave this thread to discussion regarding bunny hopping?

Btw my initial comments about videos was in response to you requesting them. But yeah I'll stop talking that and make a thread about it in the future.
Anyways, my whole point is that bunny hopping can be done by ANYONE regardless of what controller you have, so it is a level playing field IF YOU WANT IT TO BE. If you choose not to learn it because "it's not the default" or "I'd rather die than to bunny hop, " then you should accept the situation.
I closed the skill gap against bunny hoppers because I didn't want to be at a disadvantage. I learned it, THERE'S NO EXCUSE.
