One of the things I like about GW1 and GW2 is that the classes have a very clear concept in that they are obviously intended to serve certain roles. If you want a sniper you go for a Cactus or Pirate, if you want melee you use Chomper or Super Brainz for example. Different variants of each character class blend the original concept with another concept so you have things like the Cactus which is a sniper class, the Camo Catus which is an enhanced sniper class and the Bandit Cactus which leans heavily into the medium range Assault category.
My point is that while character variants for a class can lean into other areas in how they can be played due to how their weapons operate their special abilities don't intrude into an area governed by another class.
If you give the Foot Soldier minor healing abilities as an alternate ability, reducing the need for a Scientist on the team, what is next? For the next new alternate ability do you give him an underpowered Z-Mech so he can cross into the Imp's territory? Do you enable a weaker Kick attack borrowed from Super Brainz? How about a machinegun nest which resembles the Engineer's Big Bolt Blaster or artillery like the Pirate's Cannon Rodeo?
I like having separate and distinct classes and I think the class variants do a good job as it is in blending different aspects together without completely stepping on the toes of another class.

Just like you said, even in one class each character is very diferent from another, this new ability doesnt affect much scientist, most of time foot soldier is rushing or on a roof when both scientist cant reach him
The "sniper" class both pirate and cactus when someone sees you and if u get hit u have 2 options to do while your hp recovers, go to another place or use the drone while you heal, snipers dont need aid kit of 15hp or poison-fire heal.. thats the least class who would need aside from tanks
Foot soldier would use it after striking someone, just use the aid kit after killing someone , cut the poison or have a minor heal to stand a chance against other foe and keep going forward, thats where he exploits more his class, going forward with rocket leap, not in back sniping like you said it would be useful
- That would be cheap for any non-Healing classes to have the ability to self heal. That's why we have Heal Zombie as your backup. I just use Smoke Grenades to obscure the turrets and finishing off weakened foes. Remember that this is PvZ Garden Warfare, not Battlefield.

Isnt going to replace scientist if you heal youself for 10 or cut the posion-fire every 40 seconds lol In this case you heal lots more just standing while not getting hit
the thing is to get a plus to rush the enemies or dont die by fire-poison after killing the plant and keep going
