Game doesnt start and crashes PS4 pro

Hi,

So since a week i am facing a problem with this game.

Last week my son was playing this game and mentioned the entire system lagged.

I did a check and even the home menu of the PS OS itself lagged.

Decided to clean the PS4 Pro from dust and replaced thermal paste on the CPU as the few days before this crashing the fan run really loud.

After doing all this i have wiped the HDD and reinstalled the latest version of the Playstation OS.

Downloaded all my games and the past few days the console has run without any problems playing different games.

In the store he saw games of wich he had forgotten we had them so he played those games.

Today he wanted to play this game and started it up, i see the TV switching to HDR mode and then the screen stays black.

Also the entire PS OS starts to freeze again and lags really bad and i needed to pull the plug.

After this i thought it might be something with the HDR signal so i started ratchet and clank, this is also a game with HDR and it runs without problems.

So decided to try and start this game again, exactly the same behaviour, i see the TV switching to HDR signal and then only a black screen and the PS OS is lagging again.

After a search i noticed this might be because of the license of the game so i went into the settings>account management> licenses and redownloaded the licenses.

Turned off the PS for 30 seconds and started it and when booted started this game.

Again the same behaviour, input signal changes to HDR and black screen with freezing/laggy PS OS.

i have no idea what is causing this but it only happens on this game.

When i do not touch this game the PS runs without any problems and i can play every game i want so i do not think its a hardware defect with the PS itself.

Also because it is a Playstation i have no idea what files i can create for debuging this problem.

Hope the forum can assist so that my boy can play this game again.

    @iluminatethesky Little update.
I have bought a SSD for my PS4 pro and reinstalled the entire system again.
Now everything seems to be working as it should.
Might be that the HDD was going defective or had some bad blocks with the specific data for this game written to it.
    Case closed.

  • Hey @NL_Miniterror_NL

    Sorry to hear about this.

When you try to launch the game, are you getting any Error Codes from the game, or the PS4 itself?

Have you uninstalled/reinstalled Battle for Neighborville as well?

    Thanks 🙂

    Hi @iluminatethesky,

Unfortionally i do not get any messages.

The TV switches to HDR input and then the screen stays black.
Waited for 2 to 3 minutes after watching the black screen i decided to go into the PS menu by pressing the PS button on the controller, not keeping it pressed.

This brings you to the main PS menu but that also lagged and i couldnt not scroll correctly.

Tried to open the game again but still the black screen.

I then tried to press the PS button on the controller longer so it brings you to quick settings trying to close the application.

This just kept spinning but could not actually close the application.

In the end i pulled the plug on the back from the PS to turn it off.

A second attempt after it booted again yields the same result.

Yesterday evening i deleted the game and downloaded it again and now its starting although i have it uninstalled again.
The PS still doesnt respond fluent with this game installed, after uninstalling everything seems fine again.

    Hey @NL_Miniterror_NL,

Sorry to hear you're still experiencing this issue.

Unfortunately I'm not sure of other steps that might fix this issue for you.

However, you can contact EA Support to see if they can assist you with this:
