Game Refuses to Install
Hi, I tried installing yesterdays 5th December patch update on my PS4 system. While I was on the 'Preparing to Install' screen I ended up waiting for around half an hour before thinking nothing was h...
Hi @iluminatethesky,
Thank you for getting back to me.
I formatted my hard drive but it does not seem to have changed the status of PvZ in my Store Library. It still remains frozen at 90% but continues to tell me the game is not found please purchase it. I even tried deleting my entire user from my PS4 and re-adding it to see if the store refreshes, but the game showed the same as above when going back on the store. So strange.
Time to contact Playstation and see if they can assist I guess, otherwise I honestly don't mind spending money again to support PvZ.
Thanks again.
Nic
Thanks for the Update, sorry you haven't had any luck with this.
I hope PS Support is able to do something about this. I will also raise this up to see if I can get some more information. It does seem really odd that you've been playing since Founders, but now it's telling you to Purchase again.
Let me see what I can find out as well.
Thanks 🙂

Hi @iluminatethesky,
Just thought I'd update here in case anyone else comes across this strange issue I have had. I spoke with Playstation and they guided me through using the PS4 Safe Mode Startup settings to try a few things there. I did try a few actually:
- Rebuild Database (didn't work)
- Restore Default Settings (didn't work)
- Initialize PS4 (didn't work - but sadly I now need to obvs re-download EVERYTHING rip)
I then noticed that the first time I entered the Store Library after Initializing (formatting the PS4) this time, the PvZ game showed the download option. Then, after I connected my storage hardrive again, it went back to the original issue. I always set my hardrive as 'Install Location' so that made me believe the game is stuck in an endless corrupt loop trying to download to the drive. I did not realize this at first because I just always started the PS4 up with it plugged in, even through the Safe Mode options.
Long story short, I turned my PS4 off, unplugged the hardrive, then started it up again. Low and behold I can now download PvZ to my Playstation. Once it finished I'm pretty sure I can just plug my hardrive back in with no worries. If it somehow fails when I do that, I'll be back to update. If I am not back, it worked :D
Hope this may help someone in the future, but same time I hope no one has this issue.
Thanks for everything.
Nic
Hey @Phxenyx,
Thanks for the heads up!
Hopefully everything will be back to normal for you.
Like you said, keep us posted if you run into any issues after reinstalling and everything.
We'll leave this Thread open here, just in case something arises again. If all is good, let us know 🙂
