Gameplay discussion: remaining foot soldier and engineer variants

General supremo

Almanac:

The General Supremo was promoted to lead the charge against the Plants. Although, he forgot the detailed battle plans at the office so he's using a more agile process to fight the Plants instead - i.e. making it all up.

Uses golden gatling which when upgraded:

The base close range damage per hit is 6 and the critical is 7.

The max DPS at close range is 77.8.

The base middle range damage per hit is 5 and the critical is 6.

The max DPS at middle range is 66.7.

The base long range damage per hit is 4 and the critical is 5.

The max DPS at long range is 55.6.

The weapon deals no splash damage.

The weapon has unlimited ammo. However, if 60 shots are fired without stopping, it will overheat, requiring a cooldown before being usable again.

The subsequent cooldown takes 4 seconds.

The projectile speed is medium.

The weapon is full auto.

The bloom is high.

Gw1 says he was given golden ammo after winning the battle what not. Gw1 upgrade descriptions need to return for the lore imo.

He uses a cannon to shoot his ZPG instead of a rocket launcher.

When used, the Cannon will flip upward the moment it fires the ZPG, before flipping back down.

Scuba soldier

Almanac: Don't tell anybody, but the Scuba Soldier doesn't even know how to swim. He wound up on the bottom of the ocean floor after falling asleep on the deck of one of Zomboss' boats.

125 health.

Uses the sonar shot. It deals 16 to 25 impact damage and 20 to 30 splash damage depending on the range. If the missile hits any surface or a plant, a sonar radar will drop which reveals any plants that are hiding behind walls. Detected plants appear in green but cannot be viewed by other teammates.

Spy is an oxygen tank.

Plumber

Almanac:

The Plumber Zombie brings the tools of his trade to the fight, capable of launching his explosive plungers with amazing accuracy. He can also unclog Outhouse Zombies when needed

.

125 health.

Uses plunge shot. 8 ammo. It deals extra splash damage and has a bigger radius. 25 splash damage. 35 regular damage.

His outfit reveals his name is bob and your can hear a toilet flush when he reloads.

Landscaper

Almanac:

Keeping things tidy, keeping things neat, he rakes up the garbage and nibbles your feet

!

125 health.

Uses the weed buster which deals 30 direct damage and 10 splash. 10 ammo.

I love how his gw1 reload upgrade says he doesn't use any wacky gizmos just that he's trying harder now on taking his job seriously.

His weapon sounds like someone trying to start a weed whacker.

Has the highest rof of engineers that have splash and the 3rd highest in engineers overall.

I like supremo. He's not the best but when you can unload yo plants at a short range he can tear right through them and keep going do to his infinite ammo. It's also noce to see that the zombies do have a leader in the field and in the PC launch trailer he's even training them before getting eaten.

Scuba soldier is arguably the most unique soldier. If popcap really wants to focus on teamwork than bring him back and let allies see his targets. I actually like function more here than with butter beacon because scubas dps is actually viable.

Plumber can be a pain to fight but I do like him. His sound design is just perfection with the toilet.

Landscaper is simple but I like his simplicity. I do like how he's using simple herbicides to fight.

  • General Supremo gets a lot of flak since he can't jump while firing due to his All-Star style weapon but I've done quite well with him in PvE and multiplayer. One of my favorite Foot Soldiers really.

Scuba Solider's ability hardly ever seems to actually help much, although his damage is solid. I would love if they kept BfN's spotting system over GW and GW2's and made this ability more generally useful for the team.

Plumber is my favorite engineer. Yeah, he's not amazing or all that different from the baseline Engineer, but he's amusing and effective.

Landscaper is decent too. I don't see him all that often, but he's better than he may appear at first glance, and indeed he sounds like someone is trying to start a weed whacker.

@Iron_Guard8 Supremo having twice the ammo of stock with solid damage makes him one of the better pve soldiers and I think his range falloff affects his potential more than not being able to jump.

Yeah keep the Bfn spotting system but go back to the unique spotter models for allies rather than blue arrows. Let allies see scubas wall hacks and in general just create more variants with these types of powers rather than making it class ability specific because corn seriously needs his dps back.

Plumber is probably my most played engineer because he helps my poor aim when an opponent is near me.

Landscapers are rare but usually know what they're doing.

  • Time to cover Foot Soldiers and Engineers!

General Supremo: General Supremo deals 4-6 damage or 5-7 critical damage, which varies based on distance between you and enemy. General Supremo has infinite ammo, however he will overheat if firing for too long without stopping. For some reason, General Supremo cannot revive while shooting with his primary weapon, as shooting cancels the revive. He must either revive an ally or shoot, but not both. You may find the Overheat or Overheat Penalty upgrade to be useful for General Supremo!

Scuba Soldier: Scuba Soldier deals 16-25 damage or 20-30 splash damage, which varies based on distance between you and enemy. Scuba Soldier can reveal enemies that are behind walls or cover using his shots, when hitting enemies or surfaces. The direct and splash damage can be stacked if you deal direct damage to an enemy. However, he only has 2 maximum ammo (instead of 30 by default) and shoots at a slow rate. You may find the Damage or Reload upgrade to be useful for Scuba Soldier!

Plumber: The Plumber deals 35 damage or 25 splash damage, which is unaffected by range. Any direct hit is a critical hit as well. The Plumber deals additional splash damage and his splash damage affects a wider area. However, he only has 8 maximum ammo (instead of 10 by default) and his direct damage is reduced. You will find this to be much greater when fighting against clustered or grouped enemies. You may find the Damage or Ammo upgrade to be useful for Plumber!

Landscaper: The Landscaper deals 30 damage or 10 splash damage, which is unaffected by range. Any direct hit is a critical hit as well. The Landscaper attacks at a much faster and automatic rate, while still dealing splash damage. However, his direct damage and splash damage are reduced. If you land your shots consistently, you can deal plenty of damage. You may find the Ammo or Reload upgrade to be useful for Landscaper!
