Here are my Rose character challenge tips for the Garden Party Festival. I suggest doing most of her challenges in PvE but the great thing about her challenges is that you can easily get away with completing them in PvP as well. They don't really require you to go far out of your way to complete them. If you're working on her challenges this week, I wish you good luck and feel free to use my tips if you want or need them.
For my upgrade tips, I used the website: https://plantsvszombies.fandom.com/wiki/Rose_(PvZ:_BfN) to read up some of the exact stats and all that. Without further ado, let's get started.
Earn 5,000 XP as Rose.
- It does not matter if you use the Thorn Apart legendary upgrade or not for this challenge, it depends on your playstyle and whether you want to or not. Although it may help for getting extra assists or vanquishes.
- Use the "Levelling Up" upgrade if you wish to earn 10% more XP from any action that gives you more than 5 XP (due to rounding).
- 2-3 successful games of Ops or Skirmishes will most likely net you this challenge.
- You are a Support Character, Rose! Make sure to try and get revives and assists when possible for some XP. Any other actions you can do for more XP, such as vanquishes, try and aim for those s well.
- Use Arcane Enigma to gain XP by buffing allies, the more allies you buff, the more XP you get, and the faster you can reuse Enigma.
- You do not have to panic much about completing this challenge, you will likely complete this challenge before the rest. If you gain an opportunity to gain XP, take it!
Deal Damage with your Magic Thistles 500 Times.
The challenge itself is misleading, which is why I've changed the wording a bit - the challenge is not to deal 500 damage with your Magic Thistles, it is to land 500 hits with your Magic Thistles. For this, enemies with higher amounts of health makes this challenge much simpler! Remember, your Magic Thistles have homing as well. I recommend not Jinxing enemies when performing this challenge because you can land more hits on enemies before you vanquish them.
Should you use Thorn Apart for this challenge? Yes! For each orb you fire and hit an enemy with (I've tested this myself), the challenge awards you one additional point. So, even though your Thorn Apart secondary weapon is slow to charge and fire, it stacks with your Magic Thistle hits, meaning you'll have a quicker time completing this challenge. For instance, if you fire all 5 orbs at an enemy and you hit them with it, the challenge will award you 5 points. For this reason, use this upgrade if you have it.
PvE TIPS
- Bosses and Boss Fights: Keep shooting your Magic Thistles at the bosses continuously. Do not Jinx them if you want to inflict as many hits as possible. Fighting Olds Cool or Sir Biff in Town Center is a great way to rack up tons of hits. Bosses are generally really large, and your Thistles have homing, so you shouldn't have a hard time landing successful hits.
- Ops, Skirmishes and Free-roam Fights: Tons of enemies tend to appear, so just continue shooting and you should almost never miss, unless you decide to run away and shoot a wall, in which case you will miss. Just saying. Use your abilities every so often to your advantage.
- Battle Chests and Bounty Hunts: Do not attack enemies too close or too far away from you, as you will have a harder time hitting them. Try to target enemies with more health first.
PvP TIPS
- Lots of enemies mean lots of potential Thistle hits. Remember that now. It's useful information.
- Only Jinx enemies you are not trying to attack. For instance, if there's an enemy that an ally is fighting but you're trying to defeat another player, you could throw a Jinx that way instead.
- If enemies are grouped, throw a Goatify and then shoot your Thistles. The zombies will not be able to "shoot" you, but can "ram" you, so still be cautious. I mean imagine being vanquished by a Goat!
- If you have Thorn Apart equipped, you can use it to inflict extra hits. If so, use your abilities well (and revive) when possible and you will be rewarded.
- Do not get too close to enemies when doing this challenge, but do not be too far away either (or you will lose homing).
USEFUL UPGRADES
- Thistle Missile. Costs 2 upgrade points. Your Magic Thistles move much faster, improving the chances of hitting your enemy, but at the cost of some homing capability.
- Locked and Loaded. Costs 3 upgrade points. If you are aiming while using your Magic Thistles, your homing range is improved.
- Time Snare. Costs 4 upgrade points. Hitting enemies multiple times with your Magic Thistles slow the enemy down significantly, meaning you can land even easier shots and your enemies cannot escape.
- Thorn Apart. Costs 5 upgrade points. Extra firepower.
Propel 50 Allies with Arcane Enigma. #
This challenge requires you to speed boost allies a total of 50 or more times using your Arcane Enigma. There is a catch to this challenge: you cannot boost any Al players, unless you are playing on a Battle Chest. You can only boost other players. A way to know if you're boosting the right characters? You get 10 XP for it, not 1. If you get 1, it will not count. Every time you get a tick of 10 XP for "Roll Out", you get a point toward this challenge. For this reason, you want to try and buff multiple allies at once.
PvE TIPS
- Giddy Park (Public): Find other plants which are not Wildflowers at the Plants hub (especially if they are AFK) and speed boost them. Follow them if they move. You can then respawn and repeat the process.
- Battle Chests: Frequently speed boost your enemies, especially if they are clustered. Do a Battle Chest where you have more allies and try and stick near them at all times so you are ready to Enigma them. If there are vanquished allies nearby, and no others, revive them, use Enigma to revive them (if you run Super Saviour) and after they are resurrected, they will be speed boosted.
PvP TIPS
- In Turf Takeover, keep speed boosting as many allies as possible before the game starts.
- When your allies cluster, speed boost as many of them as possible.
- Follow your allies if they leave your Enigma radius.
- Wait at spawn for allies to respawn and give them an Enigma boost.
- If you use Arcane Enigma because your health is low, instead of running away, head straight to an ally and stick with them. This should give you some speed boost points and reduce your Enigma cooldown time a bit.
USEFUL UPGRADES
- Super Saviour. Costs 1 upgrade point. Put it on if you like the Arcane Enigma revive trick, like me. This way, you can get a revive for free, speed boost nearby allies while doing it and buff the ally that you revive. All that for 1 upgrade point! Awesome!
- Carpool. Costs 2 upgrade points. When you speed boost more allies, your Arcane Enigma lasts longer, which means you can reduce the cooldown time even more and have more time to speed boost allies.
- Epiphany. Costs 4 upgrade points. You heal during Arcane Enigma, meaning that you have the opportunity to provide more support on the battlefield while you wait to use it again, instead of using it as a get out of jail free card. Normally, you do not heal during Arcane Enigma.
Goatify 30 Zombies. #
For this challenge, you simply must Goatify a total of 30 enemies. You do not need to deal damage or vanquish enemies, so grouped enemies are your best bet. The other great thing is that Goatify is large and goes through walls, so use this to your advantage. If a Kernel Corn uses Butter Beacon and you see grouped enemies with the Beacon's Reconnaissance, throw a Goatify that way, you'll be laughing!
PvE TIPS
- Ops, Skirmishes and Free-roam Fights: Good choice! If enemies pile up around the Garden, use Goatify on them. If they are grouped, use Goatify on them.
- Battle Chests and Bounty Hunts: If your enemies group, Goatify them.
- Giddy Park (Private with Al): Use it on the TV Heads. If they group, have loads of fun getting multiple Goatifies.
- Bosses and Boss Fights: NO! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umDr0mPuyQc
PvP TIPS
- Objective modes are good for this challenge as enemies tend to cluster.
- Throw it at clustered enemies.
- If a Kernel Corn uses Butter Beacon, use that information to your advantage.
- You can surprise players by using it behind walls and other barriers, try throwing one behind their team.
- If an enemy gets really close to you, throw your Goatify, it will most likely hit them. Then move back.
USEFUL UPGRADES
These do not directly affect improving the amount of Goatifies that you will get, but by successfully Goatifying enemies, you will get more results from it to benefit you and your team.
- Goatality. Costs 3 upgrade points. Enemies you Goatify are Goatified for longer.
- Psychodelic Goatify. Costs 4 upgrade points. Enemies you Goatify have less control while Goatified.
Jinx 15 Goatified Zombies. #
This challenge wants you to Jinx 15 zombies using your Jinx ability, which means that they will take more damage. However, the catch is that the enemy must be Goatified when you Jinx them, you cannot Jinx regular zombies or you will not rack up points toward this challenge. However, you can actually Jinx multiple Goats with one use of your Jinx ability, and it has a short cooldown. Simply Goatify a cluster of zombies, and then jump up and throw your Jinx in the middle of the cluster. You should get several this way.
PvE TIPS
- Bosses and Boss Fights: No.
- Ops, Skirmishes and Free-roam Fights: Throw a Goatify on clustered enemies, jump, then throw a Jinx into about the middle of the Goats. You should get multiple Jinxes using one Jinx use this way.
- Battle Chests and Bounty Hunts: Whenever you Goatify one or more enemies successfully, throw a Jinx at them.
- Giddy Park (Private with Al): Goatify a TV Head, then Jinx them.
PvP TIPS
- When you Goatify one or more enemies, Jinx them.
- If another Rose player Goatifies an enemy, Jinx them.
- If Goats are closely clustered, jump and try to throw a Jinx into the middle of them.
- Try and surprise Goatify enemies so you can then Jinx them, then get out of there.
- If an enemy gets too close to you, Goatify them, Jinx them and move back from them.
USEFUL UPGRADES
These do not directly affect the amount of Jinxes you land on Goatified Zombies, but you will benefit when you do so.
- Pollination. Costs 3 upgrade points. You cast a Jinx at the location of your enemy if you or an ally gets a critical vanquish on them while they are Jinxed. This can be good if there are multiple goats.
- Photosynthesis. Costs 4 upgrade points. If you or an ally vanquishes an enemy that is Jinxed, you gain health.
# Upgrades such as Refreshing Revive and Critical Blow will assist with these challenges, as you can use them more often if you fulfill certain criteria.
Most of Rose's challenges should be fairly manageable, with the Magic Thistles one being most likely to take the longest. Try to focus mostly on that challenge so it won't take hours to complete. Do not Jinx enemies while doing this if possible as you can land more hits on your enemies. Try and use Magic Thistles on lots of enemies, Goatify enemies when they cluster, then throw a Jinx into there, if allies are nearby then speed boost them, and always try to earn XP wherever you find opportunities. If you do all that, you should have little to no trouble completing these challenges.
For now, that's it and I hope this guide helps some players! 🙂
