Garden Warfare 2 on Steam and existing Origin account

I looked this up but am seeing conflicting info so thought I should ask here. I own GW2 and have since launch on Origin, but now that it's on Steam and on sale, I thought of picking it up so my many Steam friends will see the game and pick it up/play it too and so I can leave a positive review for the game. I know Origin is still required to update the game, but if I did purchase it on Steam, can I just use my normal Origin account with it so I don't lose the many hours of progress I have in it?
