It’s Time for Garden Warfare 3

We, the Plants vs Zombies community, truly miss the Garden Warfare series.

Garden Warfare 1 and Garden Warfare 2 had something special — unique gameplay, memorable characters, and a multiplayer experience that remains beloved to this day. These games created not just fun, but a strong and passionate global community.

However, we also understand that Electronic Arts faced internal challenges, especially with its Vancouver studio. These difficulties played a role in the discontinuation of Garden Warfare 2 and deeply affected the future of the franchise. As a result, many fans lost faith and confidence in the return of this incredible series.

Even so, the connection between the game and its community has never disappeared. There is still a large, active, and passionate player base around the world that genuinely cares about Plants vs Zombies and continues to support it.

While Battle for Neighborville introduced new ideas, a significant portion of the community felt that it moved away from what made Garden Warfare truly special. The feedback and criticisms shared by players over the years are not complaints without purpose — they are a clear guide on how to build something even better.

If Electronic Arts takes the time to truly listen to the community, study this feedback, and understand what made Garden Warfare 2 so successful, there is enormous potential for a new title.

We strongly believe that a well-developed Garden Warfare 3 would not only satisfy long-time fans but also attract new players and generate significant commercial success. More than that, it would restore confidence, bring happiness to millions of players, and honor the legacy of the Plants vs Zombies franchise — a franchise that means so much to so many people.

The community is still here. We still care. We still believe. Just please... Listen to us.

Please consider bringing back Garden Warfare.

  • If I remember correctly, the studio responsible for the shooters has been largely silent for a while now (PopCap Vancouver), so chances for another shooter are unfortunately quite low.

And even IF another shooter is announced, I doubt it'll have such an open feedback system like BFN did, so the players will probably have much less influence on the game than we could have had with BFN.

  • I get your point, and realistically, the chances might be low right now.

But low doesn’t mean impossible — especially when there’s still a strong and active community behind these games.

Garden Warfare 2 is years old, and yet people are still playing, still discussing it, and still asking for a sequel. That kind of engagement over time is rare, and from a business perspective, it represents real potential.

The most important part is that the community hasn’t just been asking for a new game — it has been consistently providing feedback, ideas, and improvements. If you look at YouTube, forums, and discussions, there’s already a clear direction for what a Garden Warfare 3 could be.

    That reduces risk.

Instead of starting from zero, EA would be building on a formula that already worked, with direct input from a dedicated player base.

If executed well, a new Garden Warfare wouldn’t just appeal to nostalgia — it would bring back thousands of players who left and retain those who never stopped playing. That combination alone has strong commercial value.

So yes, the situation today might not look promising.

But the demand is still there, the community is still engaged, and the opportunity is still real — both for the players and for EA.
