This may be unethical, but:
1. Balance the game to perfection, much easier than GW2 (also to not make it P2W).
2. Put every project on hold and focus all development on BFN. Not likely as this is just repeating history.
3. Get known PvZ content creators to stream and stuff and advertise the game more.
4. Make the game cheap (20USD sounds good).
5. Profit.
