@Phayd , I get that it's hype and entertaining to unlock sticker packs but how can you say that it's the most balanced?
Best balanced = all characters and abilities for competitive play are unlocked for everyone upon simply purchasing the video game (Gears of War, Marvel vs Capcom, etc.)
Still balanced = handing out exp or currency that can be spent on whatever abilities you wish to use (Star Wars: Battlefront)
Not balanced at all = relying on RNG to handout characters and abilities over days of play time (PVZGW2)
Once again this isn't about "completing a game". I'd still play 30+ hours of PVZ even if every playable character and move was unlocked upon simply purchasing the game. I'd just be enjoying it more if you could buy what you wanted to from the store. Or better yet, if you wanted to add a bunch of fluffy replayability to your game make it so we unlock the next class by Mastering that plant or zombie.

But you can't deny things like tier lists, frame data, etc. You will never see a player in the top 1% win an Evo tournament with a Hakan (SFIV). Skill is important, but so is character balance. You will never get true balance with a roster of over 50 characters let alone a 100.
And I think that this is terrible game design. If you believe that a game cannot be truly balanced, and you should have access to the most overpowered characters/variants in order to abuse them, then I understand why you don't like this unlock system. I'd rather that the most overpowered characters/variants be nerfed and the developers give themselves enough time to implement those nerfs by not allowing everyone to be Fire Rose day 1. PopCap has an excellent record, recently besmirched by the post-beta Rose buff, of rapidly balancing variants that have become "Tier 1".
For the sake of a healthy, veteran player base, I would much rather that players like you don't get Fire Rose at will and drive off the casuals.
