[GUIDE] - Creating a good deck (1/2)

I have seen some comments lately about people complaining about an specific card or deck type, or just about people that can't climb up ranks.

So, I decided to make a small guide on how to create a deck around what you want or what you need.

I want to make clear that all the things I'm about to say are entirely from my experience. I may be wrong about some things, but at least for me, they have worked out.

Ok. So making that all clear, let's get started.

First of all... Who am I?

My name in the game is Ryuuga (you may add me if you want), and I'm currently in Taco League, rank 42.

I may not be in Ultimate League, but as I said, all the things I want to share have brought me up to this point.

I will separete this guide in 5 sections.

-Deck type

-Win condition

-Building your deck

-Multiple Win conditions

-Counters and rebuilding the deck

1.- Deck type

We all know the 2 basic deck types. Aggro, and control.

However, I think there are actually 4 type of decks.

Aggro, control, tempo and combo.

-Aggro.

This decks are super aggressive. They usually use high attack but low health minions to maximize the damage output. In PvZH, are all the cards that have some damage increase abilities, like Anti-hero.

-Control

The opposite of an aggro deck. They are decks that have many removals, as well as heals. They usually win by out-valuing their opponent when they run out of cards.

-Tempo

They mostly rely on filling the board constantly, and playing the highest minion avaliable on every turn.

-Combo

Are decks that rely on 2 or more cards that have synergy between them in order to kill your opponent. Most combo decks have an insane damage output, being able to kill you in just 1 turn, and most of them can't be anticipated.

Usually played like a control deck, these decks are pretty defensively until they have the combo pieces they need.

So, the first part is to have an idea on what you want to play.

This is a very important part because that is how we determinate our win condition, and therefore, the cards that we need in our deck.

All decks can beat all decks (if played right, of course) however I think some deck types have more possibilities to beat another deck type based on their playstyle.

Aggro usually beats combo, because they are forced to waste their combo pieces in order to stay alive.

Control usually beats aggro, because of their high amount of removal, damage reduction and heals.

Combo usually beats control, because they take lots of damage unexpectedly.

And Tempo is like the most well rounded. Goes well against all the other deck types, but at the same time all the other deck types can beat it from time to time.

Now that you know what your playstyle is going to be, we can go to define the win condition.

2.- Win condition

Different deck types mean different ways to win the game.

A win condition is one or more cards you plan to play in order to win the match.

The best way to identify win conditions is by thinking... How am I going to beat my opponent?

Here are some examples.

-Aggro

Deal the most damage possible with Anti-Hero cards. Then finishing off my opponent with direct damage.

Playing Strikethrough minions and extra attack cards.

-Control

A Wall-Nut Bowling directly to the face, dealing 18 damage.

Gargantuars' Feast on turn 12.

-Tempo

Minions and more minions.

-Combo

I need Re-Peat Moss, Fertilize and Time to Shine to deal 15 damage.

Copter Commando and two Lurch for Lunch. That will give me 12 instant damage.

With this, you instantly know some cards that you need.

The remaining topics will be on another post, due to the character limitation on the posts.
