I've gotten word back that at least something is happening on this issue. Staff hope to have something to tell me by tomorrow.

So, I bear bad news. Don't hold your breath waiting for this issue to be resolved.
I've already given my opinion on this matter in the linked thread.

That is very disappointing. I was hoping to return to GW1 once I finished grinding to 5455 in GW2. (As of today I am less than 1000 away too.) I will say that this is a dangerous precedent for EA to set. I personally already have a strained relation with their services, to see a game die like this (if it does die) would be a deep cut. What is the point of buying games if they become useless after a few years? GW1 is one step worse, no solo play, no local play. The game would be little more than a paper weight.
I hate to become salty over the same game twice but, I took a gamble with GW1 being online only and only through EA's servers. If it goes out like this I will not buy another game from EA that requires an online connection. I played Super Mario Bros. on the NES less than a week ago, it is over 30 years old even in the EU. (Its even older than me.) Garden Warfare on PS3/PS4 is barely 3 years old. Which is money better spent?
