Have to Disable Origin In Game to Get Past Loading Screen - Why?

I have an issue where if Origin-in-game is enabled, the game gets stuck on Loading Screen. It starts out fine with the little flower in the lower left of the screen rotating as normal, then changes to very slow movement on the petals. I have never been able to get past this even after 30 minutes of sitting there. The game works as expected when Origin-in-game is disabled, with the exception of the functions that the Origin-in-game brings (such as joining friends games, etc). I would really like to know if this is a known issue for others. My Origin client version is Version 9.4.11.2806 - 268198. My rig description is as follows:

Windows 8.1

Asus Sabertooth Z77 mobo
Core i7-3770K @ 3.5GHz Quad-core
32GB G.Skillz Ripjaws X Series
EVGA GeForce GTX 680 FTW 4GB
Corsair Performance Pro 256GB SSD
Corsair Force GT 60GB SSD
Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1000w
Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced Case
BenQ XL2420T Monitor

  • I figured out how to keep the EVGA Precision X (and RivaTuner) software happy along with the Origin In Game. I had to open RivaTuner and add the .exe files for the games that had the issue (PvZ-GW and BF4) and also Origin.exe and then set the "Application detection level" for each to "None".

*Edit: I've also heard that MSI Afterburner incorporates something like RivaTuner in which you have to do the same basic things. I can't confirm that tho, since I'm not an Afterburner user.

Do you also run other overlay programs?  RiviaTuner, Fraps, TeamSpeak, anything that might be an overlay of some sort interfering with OiG?

OiG does not like other overlays... hopefully that changes someday

  • RivaTuner (for EVGA Precision X) and TeamSpeak are running in background, but not the overlays for either.

Your post got me to thinking about the RivaTuner that EVGA Precision X uses to display the frame-rate. I turned off the frame-rate option and enabled Origin in game. Seems to work fine. Anyone else have issues with RivaTuner 6.1.2?

This brings up another question - if I have to disable RivaTuner to get the Origin In Game to work, does anyone know how I can display the frame-rate inside the game?

    Ctl + R

    or

    Open Notepad.
    Copy and Paste this:

    PerfOverlay.DrawFps 1

    Save it as "user.cfg"

    You cannot have user.cfg.txt
enable "View Extentions of Known File Types" from Folder Options in Control Panel

Put it in your PvZ directory
\\Origin Games\Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare
