Well you probably wouldn't have the best of experiences if you purchased this one on release due to major imbalances and bugs, however if you played now you might enjoy it?
Levelling is much easier, unlocking all the characters is really simple and just a money grind - you may find it difficult to unlock the legendaries but saying that, the new pack they've just released gives great chances to get it.
The previous version is more polished, but this one has so much more to offer. I would say this one is better and I have played over 400 hours on both since late January this year.
Your kids will love it for sure. 🙂
