Huge Lag issues on PS4

My wife and I have been playing on GW2 most of the day and as the day has progressed the lag has gotten extremely bad. Netflix and other streaming services and other online games have had no issues at all but GW2 has us rubberbanding, lagging out (stalling), zoning in or respawning into the floors and walls and even ceilings. You may think it's just us but when playing Cats vs Dino's, when we get to spectate other players, they are having the same issues. Is this being worked on at all? The twitter account you folks have aren't giving any news except saying how great a game you have.

  • When this sort of issue happens the first thing I would suggest is to check your Multiplayer Portal controls to see what region is currently set and what your Ping value is for that region.

I usually connect to North America East and there have been a couple of occasions when those servers have gone "Unavailable" and the system just started placing me in any old game session on any old server region, some of which had higher latency issues than others.

If your chosen region hasn't gone down for some reason and the Ping value is reasonable, the higher values indicating more latency problems with 130 being the rough threshold for game breaking experiences, then the issue probably exists elsewhere.

Most people don't realize but there could be an issue somewhere along your connection which is entirely out of your control- anything from your bandwidth actually being shared among your neighborhood, so more people doing data heavy things online slows down everybody, to problems a longer distance from you. There's also, or course, the possibility that the EA servers are experiencing some sort of issue or lack of server resources which affects the players connected to those servers.

I played myself for a good chunk of the day on the game connected to North America East and did not experience the type of game breaking lag that you describe so it may have either been something localized or something affecting the particular region or server you were connected to at the time.
