I am consistently unable to successfully connect to the EA Servers in PvZ:GW2
I know this sounds a bit recent for an issue that sounds like many others, but at this point I've lost all hope that the problem is going to fix itself anymore. I've been playing Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 for a few years now, occasionally playing it with absolutely no issues whatsoever, playing in servers with hundreds of ping higher than me with minimal frustration. But suddenly I had an issue with logging into the game that makes it completely impossible to even get past the error messages thrown at me.
Everything seems perfectly fine one day, I was completing quests around the time the Steam December sale for the PvZ shooters were pushing the player count to unbelievable amounts, but then my screen faded to black and I was kicked to the loading screen with the error message;
"Oh no! You have lost your connection to the EA Servers. You will be unable to access any online features until you connect."
as well as;
"Failed to retrieve your save file!" "Would you like to proceed without saving?"
Agreeing and/or disagreeing to any of these messages wouldn't do anything and would just loop the same error over and over until you gave up trying.
It has persisted for a few days now, consistently kicking me to the error message whenever the game fades to black from the loading screen to put me in the backyard battleground.
I tried contacting EA Help twice, but sadly they weren't able to figure out any troubleshooting methods that actually worked.
I'm on a Lenovo ThinkPad X260
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-6100U CPU @ 2.30GHz 2.30 GHz
Installed RAM: 8.00 GB (7.44 GB usable)
Some of the methods I tried were:
- Validating Steam file integrity
- Reinstalling EVERYTHING related to the game (Ea App, Anticheat, Background Services, the game itself, Steam)
- Clean Booting the pc
- Using a VPN
- Using a mobile hotspot as the source of internet
- Clearing Caches
- Launching EA App, Steam, and PvZ:GW2 in administrator
- Scouring the internet for users with similar problems
- Waiting until the player count lessened to below 700 before trying to log in
- Contacted EA Help twice
- Logging out and back in again
- Updating Drivers and Software, as well as Steam and EA
- Changing performance settings
- Uninstalling related programs
- Checking for viruses
- Troubleshooting my internet connection
- Checking the EA Server statuses
Everything about the game has worked fine in the past few years, but ever since this issue began I haven't been able to figure out the cause. I hope I find someone else that has had this same very specific and niche issue before, I just miss playing the game and it's already a shame its not being updated again. At this point I think I'm probably just cursed to not play the game anymore.
