I really enjoyed GW2, but it got a little stale for me after the backyard battleground quests. I'm the kind of person that loves story and strategy games, I love sinking into a game with a deep plot and memorable characters. If a game does not have that, I am usually satisfied with fun, creative gameplay that I can appreciate with friends. I think this is why I love the PVZ games so much, they have always been so creative and memorable to me, and especially BFN in this regard. I absolutely loved the PVE regions, and that's what sold the game to me in the first place.
Another reason I've been enjoying BFN is because of the removal of variants; because now singular, unique characters are being added instead. Especially with the knowledge now that AI can become playable characters, I have high hopes for the future of the PVZ roster and I'm excited to see the variety we'll have by the end of the game's lifespan. I'm especially excited for Iceberg lettuce, can't wait to get some hours in as my personal favorite from PVZ2.
Also, with the addition of Giddy Park as a social hub and text emotes to communicate, I find hanging out with other plants and zombies in Giddy Park to be a blast. I feel that BFN has improved on GW2 in most ways, but has severely been worse in other areas. (Such as FOMO strategies with Rux's store and lack of things to spend coins on.)
I love the new social system and PVE regions.
I also didn't like all the crazy variants of gw2. It made things too complicated for me. I love that BfN puts the emphasizes on making more unique characters and not adding as many variants of the same one as they can.
