Ideas for Character Balancing in Garden Warfare 2
I wanted to discuss a few things about the balance of this game and my opinion in it.
Super Brainz
- Remove the beam for all Super Brainz except for Cosmic Brainz. Reason: Super Brainz was intended to be a brawler, I understand that the beam was most likely made to give him a small chance against Chompers, but there are some changes that I have that could give him a chance against Chompers but not have range. The reason for keeping the beam for Cosmic Brainz is that he is one of the worst, if not the worst, characters in the game. It would also make him feel like a much more diverse Super Brainz.
- Increase movement speed to the speed of the Imp. Reason: Super Brainz was intended to be a high mobility brawler, we could add more movement speed to help him reach plants after he has used all his abilities.
- Increase health to 250. Reason: This would be the main advantage over Chompers I was talking about earlier. I felt this was necessary as brawlers normally have high health, and due to the fact that Super Brainz has a MASSIVE hit-box, he could use it. (If you compare Torchwood and Super Brainz, Super Brainz is actually taller.)
- Add back the 25% movement penalty for plants when he uses his Turbo Twister. Reason: It would help close distance between a plant that is running.
And to top it all off, I have a new ability idea. It would replace the Super Ultra Ball and it would be Elemetnal Fists. This ability would make it to where the more vanquishes you get, the more elements you get like fire, toxic, ice and electricity. The reason for it being so powerful is it would be replacing one of Super Brainzs only source of range, and the Super Ultra Ball is like a Shuck Shot or ZPG, except it doesn't do much as much damage.
Final Notes: These changes would help him be a higher mobility and higher health character, but with much less range. Like the brawler he was intended to be.
Torchwood
- Reduce health from 275 to 250. Reason: Torch can take way too much damage, especially with the Leaf Shield.
- Increase overall accuracy. Reason: Characters that fire fast have a hard time hitting people, this change would help him not rely on his abilities so much.
- Reduce damage from Blazing Blast from 15 to 12. Reason: I don't know if they have already done this, but the short answer is... RIP Z-MECHS.
Final Notes: These changes would make him less likely to rely on his abilities and to use his high health and better accuracy to vanquish people instead of using his abilities.
Citron
- Reduce health on the Iron Citron from 250 to 225. Reason: He is basically the Tank Commander, but with 50 extra health, 15 less damage, and a legendary meter. His health should not be 50 extra.
Final Notes: These changes to Iron Citron would make him less overpowered.
Sunflower
- Reduce total health from 110 to 100. Reason: Just a rework, this would also make the Metal Petal more popular.
- Increase overall accuracy. Reason: The whole reason why Sunflower got extra health was because she couldn't defend herself well enough compared to the Scientist. The main problem with her was not her damage, nor her health, but her accuracy was trash. If they change this she could use her decent damage.
Final Notes: These changes would make her shots easier to land, allowing her to defend herself better and not have a pointless 10 hp buff.
Sorry if you don't agree with these changes and ideas, you can tell me what you think.
Personally I'd agree that Super Brainz doesn't need his beam, but some of the ideas you listed simply don't fit well enough to make him better. He really doesn't need speed, as if you know how to use his kick, he'd go a long way. I've seen many people go on nice streaks with Super Brainz, but I do believe he should be made slightly easier to get the grip of. Torchwood's health is as fine he can easily get ZPG'd. I think you need to nerf his Flame blast as it's LITERALLY a get out of jail free card. (Just like the Husk Hop). I think all Citrons still need some kind of rework cause hit and run is stupid. (It's fun but it makes the "tank" role pointless). Sunflowers are fine as they are.
