Infinity mode glitch

My son finally unlocked last piece for party deadbeard in infinity mode. Upon returning to backyard character was there. When he went to join a multiplayer match, after entering the portal party deadbeard was gone!!! He returned to backyard and the piece was gone from the sticker book as well!! Wth would this happen, and has anyone else had this issue?
