Issue with sunflower scarecrow missions in Pvz BFN town centre

Summarize your bug Hey, I've tried looking everywhere for a solution and I can't find one which is concerning. I have been recently doing the campaign missions with my girlfriend to 100% the game and we started doing the garden ops missions and it said to play the first garden ops as a acorn. When I pressed on the citron(mark?) Again he said to play as night cap. I then played as night cap and followed on from there and played as the snap dragon. My girlfriend at the time however played as acorn, night cap and then snap dragon in which as she played snap dragon I played acorn. When I've come to check the progression, it says 2/3 and every time I approach mark(?) He keeps congratulating me for playing as the snap dragon but nothing for acorn. I've since then played as acorn and snapdragon to try see if it would correct itself but it keeps congratulating me for playing as a snapdragon. Is there a solution to this or is it something I'll just have to deal with?
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? No clue, maybe playing with a friend during the campaign or the game glitching or maybe playing as night cap before acorn. I would've thought the game would've prevented the progression.

What upgrades had you equipped with this character? I don't think this played a part.

(P.S, Not sure if it matters but I was playing citron at the time before changing to night cap before entering and also I think I remember seeing a change character screen where I picked night cap again before playing which never shown up for me after that)
