It thinks I'm using a gamepad

I've had the game 2 months (PC version)  with no problems but now I cannot use the keyboard. I can use the mouse and open OPTIONs but it thinks I'm using a game pad and locks up. The W (forward) ke...

    Hi all,

    I worked with EA support over the past weekend and we got this fixed.

    I just needed to move my USB keyboard to a different computer port. When I plugged it in on the front the computer installed another fresh driver. At that point I could remap my keyboard and it started working. 

    It seems that the original keyboard driver had gotten corrupt (at least that is my assumption). I doubt I would have stumbled on this myself.

Hi @Gr8Squid

Have you ever used a gamepad on the computer before? There may be leftover drivers causing issues.

If you have a specific piece of software to control the gamepad then uninstall that, otherwise you can do it from the device manager:

  • Go to Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Device Manager.
  • Find the gamepad device - right click and then install the device if you're not using it
  • On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process

Hey EA_Andy,

No I have never used a gamepad on my PC. I'm strictly a Keyboard/mouse guy. I checked the device manager anyway and found 3 unknown device under my Other devices. I resolved my PCI communication device issue and another unknown device my re-installing motherboard device drivers. I still have 1 unknown device to resolve.

I disabled the last unknown device and tried the game but it still thought I had a gamepad.

I'm open to more ideas...

    Please notice also in the screenshot the weapons status of None. I'm not sure why this would be but it's strange.
