It's that time again
I don't here too often these days due to the state of PvZ in general and the shooters, especially the Garden Warfare games, specifically, but it's time to post about them again.
With over 3200 hours in GW2, it's my most played game ever, even more than MMOs I used to play and those games are designed to make you spend lots of time in them! I'm glad we can still play all 3 shooters, but it's past time to have a new one. I know EA is more focused on the sports games and the massive amounts of money those bring, but for those of us of a certain age recall a time when EA brought us gems like M.U.L.E., Mail-Order Monsters, Adventure Construction Set, Realm of Impossibility, and so on. We really need a new PvZ shooter and sooner rather than later.
Mattshea, a YouTuber with over 3 million subscribers recently played GW and then GW2 and the videos are doing pretty well for him, so once again, we can see that there's an audience for the games, and a new game would really help to drum up interest, but it has to be done well. I don't BfN like many do, but it did feel like a step back from its predecessors, barring a couple improvements to the UI (heat indicator and both a visual and numerical display of ammo remaining), and the ability to save builds with customizations, with a more friendly UI for customization than GW2 has. I'd love to see the old maps from GW, tweaked for balance and larger characters, the GW2 maps, and some new ones with more solo content and a larger backyard battleground (Giddy Park just did not work as well), and lots of PvP and PvE stuff to do.
It may just be wishful thinking, but these shooters have a lot of fans, and some have kids now that would love to play these games too, but we need new content and support that is currently lacking. I miss the days of checking on the progress-o-matic on my phone while at work, the more enjoyable mystery portals (like soil survivors and boss hunts), the dev sessions on YouTube, and so much more. The audience is there for it still, so let's have a GW3!
