Kernel Corn One-Shotting with Cob Busters

My first match of the day was in Loggy Acres and I was on the Zombies side (attacking). I was playing Super Brainz and while I was flanking (at full HP) I suddenly died instantly and apparently I was killed by Kernel Corn's Cob Busters. I thought it was weird but kept playing until we pushed the payload to the first checkpoint. It happened about 5 or 6 more times after that and it was always the same Kernel Corn one-shotting me with Cob Busters. We pushed the payload halfway, but eventually lost. The Kernel Corn ended up being Top Vanquisher with 67 vanquishes, which leads me to believe I wasn't the only person being one-shot.

I wasn't able to record any footage of this because I don't have any recording software. I was just wondering if this is either a bug or someone hacking and if other players have experienced this.
