@TheSprinter85Thanks for letting me borrow your memory lol. It was easy to remember the possible weekly amounts (I thought lol) but I never paid attention to the actual amounts in the map or the number of bulbs needed to complete each map so far. To do things the simple way, (52 weeks x 40 stars) + (12 months x 150 stars) equals 3,880 stars a year. Divide by 12 and we see 323 stars possible per month. Meaning there are more than 300 stars available each month on average. This also means you can buy 3.88 legendary costumes each year if you grab every star available and spend them on nothing else (barring prices going up).
I just did a count on this months map (three times) and ended up with 178 bulbs (unless I missed something, which is totally possible) but I'm not sure about previous months. I think it's an interesting thing to keep track of. Maybe someone posted or kept pics of the previous maps. When I get some time I will ask my very knowledgeable friend Google for some pics or vids.
Thank you for indulging my nerdiness. This idea got stuck in my brain and now I NEED to know 😋
Edit - quick look at past maps on YouTube showed me 182 bulbs for Lawn of Doom and 178 bulbs for Feastivus. So if my quick adds were right they went down a little after that first month? Of course there were no stars in the Doom map but Feastivus also had the 150 like this month.
Edit 2 - I think the weekly amount is 40, not 30 so that messes up all the math. Fixed.

I looked at the amount of Prize Bulbs for next month - you need 231 for next month: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtRn29uP9A4, for more. I watched this video on ZEROxFUSIONZ (at 1:00) and he revealed how many you need for this month (which is 231).
I didn't actually realise they reduced the amount of bulbs required in each festival after Lawn of Doom, that the numbers of bulbs required got reduced down. You're probably right. Good observations!
You may be able to get more than 300 rainbow stars per month, but I wouldn't know how (apart from buying them)! 🤔
Well, you learn something new! Good to see someone else on top of this stuff as well!
EDIT: ZEROxFUSIONZ thinks the total prize bulbs needed next month is 231!

231 is insane. Especially for a shorter month starting late. Maybe this "month" map will run over to compensate. Or I give up on getting it all. One of those two things.
Edit - I took some stills as he went through the video and I'm only counting 204 as the total bulbs for the map which would be an unpleasant increase but not as drastic of one.
- 6 years ago@TLEsquire I thought the prize map bulbs were going up that makes it a lot harder for me (and probably a lot of people) when I only play a bit some nights. I play as much as I can with work and running the kids about and I’m only playing bfn at the moment. So It looks like I’m not going to be able to complete the map next month which if that keeps happening unless something changes I probably won’t be playing. Very sad as I love the PvZ games but if I miss all the upgrades I will get wiped out in every game so no point.

@MeadozAgreed. If the prize bulb map gets out of range for me with consistent casual play I will spend even less time playing and spend my time on other games the rest of my family actually still play.
Edit - More Math!
Let's say you do all character challenges in a month, at 15 bulbs per character, that's 60 bulbs.
Now let's say you do the two available dailies each day for all 26 days (29 days in leap year February minus 3 days not in the event). That's 52 more bulbs.
So with that we have 112 of the 204 (if my counting is correct) for map completion. This leaves 94 bulbs to acquire through experience gathering at 5,000 exp per bulb or 470,000 exp. Any guesses how many hours of play that might be?

@TheSprinter85 @TLEsquire
We just went through the map and counted 204 bulbs (not 231 phew 🙂)
so it would seem that what has changed in this map is that the reskinned cuddly chomper (with the weird bald head if you change his hat lol) and the legendary hat.... they have doubled in price from 10 bulbs in previous maps to 20 bulbs in the Valenbrainz map.
So the total bulbs in previous map was 184 (I think) and the Valenbrainz map it will be 204.
Not great but not as bad as some of the rumours going about 🙂
In terms of the rainbow stars: 150 from the prize map and 40x4=160 so in total 310 in a month.
That is of course, only if you are able to complete the map and complete all the weekly challenges.
I think I have counted that correctly... it is still early here, so............. 🤔😃 - 6 years ago
Ugh god, more grind, freakin yay.
I finished this month price map this week monday, same happed to prev maps, only few days before. And actualy after finishing every map i took 2 days break from game, because doin these price maps feels like a job, not fun.
With increased amound required bulbs i don`t think i finish it, or finish at the last day.....
- 6 years ago@asabaida What are the odds on being able to complete every weekly challenge though? 😖
The big problem is for new players - you can only get enough rainbow stars in a month to buy the upgrade with rainbow stars IF you complete the prize map in the first place . . .
Basically most of us should be ok, a lot of us still have unspent rainbow stars & will have built up max bulbs to help with the map in the first place, but new players will feel under pressure to complete the prize map or buy the bulbs to do so in order to get the upgrade.
And I think new/er players will feel the pressure to buy bulbs even more the following month if they face not be able to complete the prize map, because they won't have the reserve of coins many of us players do . . .
This is seriously messy!! - TheSprinter856 years agoHero
@asabaida Hooray! I believe you completely, and only needing 204 would be excellent (I didn't count the amount of bulbs needed; I just trusted Zero). I apologise as well, @TLEsquire , because I assumed that you received approximately 270 rainbow stars ⭐ in a month, but @asabaida is absolutely correct with the rainbow star calculations, I forgot the weekly challenges gave you 40 rainbow stars, not 30, so sorry 😳 🤭! There is a possibility of also getting extra rainbow stars, because you can complete 5 sets of weekly challenges on some months (not February) because of the extra days in a month. Thanks for getting all of that straight and sorted out! 🙂👍
@ToastedSarnie Some of the weekly challenges are very hard to complete, you're absolutely right! I don't manage to complete it every single week, but I still manage to do it most of the time. New players wouldn't really have a choice but to buy rainbow stars for the upgrade if they start playing too close to the end of next month! 😞 There's going to be more FOMO, strap in and enjoy the fun times ahead! This doesn't seem like it's going to go very well, gotta agree with you there! 😃 👍

@asabaidaThank you for backing up some of my math & counting my dear! We differ in the monthly amount of stars but both are "correct." Your 310 stars for a month is a "normal" 4 week month. I have an average of 323 a month by calculating a yearly total and dividing by 12 (to account for 5 week months). No month actually gives 323 but it takes into account that 4 months a year will give you 350, just certainly not February.
As @ToastedSarnie points out, these are of course, only the very most you can achieve if everything goes optimally each month, which, let's face it, is pretty unlikely for most people.
I just wanted to see the math worked out now that we have a few months behind us and after @Meadoz pointed out the bulbs needed for the maps have not been consistent. The numbers aren't terribly encouraging. I don't know how many hours it will take to grind out 470,000 exp for the bulbs not gotten from challenges next month but it looks like a lot - 6 years ago

- 6 years ago@asabaida & @TLEsquire Swots, the pair of you!! 🤣
No idea how many hours play it would take though & it also depends what you're doing to gain xp . . .
PvP is hit & miss, depending on your own performance & all those variables like length of game, win or lose, what your team-mates are like etc, etc.
I can usually gain a bulb from 1 & a bit Ops, I think? A full battle in PvE gives a little more.
Newer players will have all that lovely general xp available first time round in PvE like chests & gnomes . . . not easy to calculate 🤔 - 6 years ago
Hahahaha and I thought I was doing pretty good for that time in the morning.... hadnt even had my coffee, 😃😃
- 6 years ago
@ToastedSarnieThat is not the first time, nor is it likely the last time I have been called a swot 🤣🤣 I forgot that beginners will get the boost of the first times through PvE. Lucky ducks.
@asabaidaYou did great feats of math-ery especially pre-coffee. I was worried about mine because I did them in bed right before sleep 😴 Counting the bulbs watching videos was even more confusing. I had to keep thinking if I counted one twice or missed one. I did each several times and I'm still not positive.
