Lets fix Chomper
Alright Chomper needs some work, since he's the only melee class the Plants have and I feel they need a stronger close range offense character. A Chomper should be feared, atm he's just one huge crit...

It's not like you can't kill him, he will just have more of a fighting chance when he's in his most vulnerable state, especially useful if you accidentally swallow a summoned zombie.
I don't feel he needs even that. I still get around a 2/1 k/d ratio with him using the Hot Rod Chomper.
Yes, he's weak while eating/digesting, but he's scoring a kill on a player who can't be revived, that's a big deal.
About the only change I would suggest, which like another has said, if he's gooped a target, make it quicker to eat/digest them, and that's about it.
I'm actually the one who said that hahaha. See the reason Hot Rod Chomper isn't affected as bad is the speed boost he receives once finishing his digestion, it's very effective to get out of danger. I still think damage reduction would be nice so he has more survivablity especially if he needs to put a dent into taking over the graveyard in Herbal Assault. The plants really need something for that mode.

The plants need a melee bruiser, not a buff to Chomper.
For anyone who has played League of Legends, I think the Plants need someone like Maokai. For those who haven't, he's basically a high hp bruiser with point blank AoE dmg (centered on him) who can travel quickly to a target (it's kind of like the Chompers burrow) and roots them in place for a second before reappearing near them and starting to fight. This would actually be a fun mechanic/character to play.

Exactly why I made this thread. We don't have a melee bruiser class for the Plants. So the idea behind it was to buff the Chomper to fit into that role. Although in my OP it gives ideas on how to do it, not that they should incorporate all of my suggestions.
I think this is almost an entirely horrible idea because that would make the chomper horribly over powered. I have seen, myself included chompers decimate the zombies team when played smart. Increasing damage per bite to 40-50 is a terrible idea because his attack is naturally fast and can dish out damage easy and quick. Increasing the bite chomper damage would mean increasing the spray chomper damage which is already powerful. Then take into account the metal chomper. Should he be doing 65-75 damage? No.
I dont think he should take less damage or be invulnerable because it nearly removes the need to be very strategic with the chomper. You need to choose when you should swallow or bite to death.
Chomp Cannon does 100 damage right in the face and 40-50 in splash damage so that is plenty awesome when you know how to aim it.
Health is perfectly fine.
Good is meant to hold, its a utility not a damage attack.
The only think I agree with is being gooped should decrease swallow speed, but only for purple good, not super sticky. Also, only imps should be swallowed extremely quickly.
Chompers are assassins, be sneaky and pick your targets. I normally stalk the respawns the best I can forcing them to focus on me and dodging between all obstacles.

So you are fine with one melee character having one of the strongest range attacks and damage reduction while the other one has none?
200 health should be standard for Chomper, it'* box is huge and like I said before it's just a walking critical shot.
I never said to buff Armor Chomper's damage, he's still a tanky Chomper, but it would be nice for other biting Chompers to be more inline with his bite and the only Spray Chomper which needs a proper damage buff is Chomp Thing.
Zombies have the Scientist which can 2 shot plants, why can't plants have a character which can 2 shot the Scientist? His bite speed and the Scientist's projectile speed are about the same. Both seem to be Assassin type characters.
Sorry Chomp Cannon is terrible, goop is alot more useful. If Chomp Cannon's had it's damage and a AoE goop then it would of been much more useful. Also Cheesy Goop use to not only hold the target, but it did decent damage. So yes goop should damage as well as hold.

200 health should not be the standard. 125-175(225 for armor) has never been an issue in the first game and as an avid chomper player, does not feel like a problem in this game. Watch the movie dodgeball and learn the 5 Ds and you will be a good chomper.
If you are buffing chomper damage and the armored chomper naturally has 25 more damage than the normal chomper then yes, whatever you want them to upgrade bite chomper damage too, armor will need his normal attack buff. Chomp thing I play as support so I find no issue with him. In the first game he held my highest vanquish streak as a chomper.
Scientist two shot characters up front. Citron, PeaShooter, Corn, Rose all have movies to keep their distance or play safely staying at a distance. Chompers can one shot any class no matter what health they are at. I guess Zombies should have a class that can dish out that much damage as well.
I use Chomp Cannon on three of my chompers and have found many ways to use it amazingly. Having a distance attack as a chomper than can 1 shot a scientist with no health upgrades is pretty amazing.
Seriously, I dont want to sound mean but it just sounds like you are bad at playing the chomper.
LOL I love how people disagree with someone and automatically think they must be a bad player with Chomper.
In GW1 I constantly got top kills with a biting Chomper, in GW2 it' alot harder to creep up stealthy on your opponent thanks to the horrible spotting mechanic in this game. Seeing all my opposition is bad enough, but why in the hell do I need to see all the players on my side?
Anyway back to Chomper, with the kills you got with your Chomp Cannon Chompers you could of got far easier with Goop equipped. It's too situational. You bring up about one shotting a Scientist. That's fine and dandy until you meet a Scientist which warps in on your face, Chomp Cannon won't save you then. By the time Chomper takes to use the attack you would be dead, at least you have a chance with Goop.
Chomp Cannon needs to have more Damage imo. I mean how many times in GW1 would you see a Foot Soldier camp on a roof or just out of your reach as a Chomper player and all you can do is spit on him or burrow. It would be nice to OHKO any camper in GW2 with it and for that to happen it needs more damage.
Also I don't know if you know, but my ideas were just that. I didn't want all those buffs, I was just giving out viable solutions to help the Plants have a class equal to Super Brains. Oh and Cosmic Brains can OHKO you as well with his charged punch if you are hurt to be unrevivable. So Zombies do have that as well.
Now go run free with the Chompers and keep playing such a fun class.
Keep the different opinions coming guys. I love hearing both sides of why or why not the Chomper should be buffed.
It was an assumption based on your desire to overbuff a class that does not need to be touched. (Though I still agree with you that certain chars should be quicker to swallow. Mainly Imps)
Scientist at a distance, you should think what would be better to do if you have Chomp Cannon. If they are looking at you and you know they might not use teleport soon, One shot them. IF they are about to teleport just snare them and begin the circle bite. Every move is situational.
As I said, it does 100 damage on a direct hit so if you can aim it, you can do a heavy some of damage. There is no reason it should One shot someone from a distance and be able to do so from afar. I believe it is designed for people who you have already damaged and are escaping.
Cosmic Brainz fully charged hit right in someones face does I believe 70 damage. That does not one shot any class at full health.
I am trying to keep them fun and not OP.

It nearly one shots a Vampire Flower :P
It's meant to be finisher move, but if hit right that's an unrevivable kill. The thing with the Scientist is you can goop, burrow or just goop and swallow to counter him up close. We may disagree on Chomp Cannon's damage, but I know what you are saying. Which to me is a shame as I expected more from the attack.
A good Scientist will always have a teleport ready for you. I have noticed so many Scientist's using their teleport to move faster in the map after just re-spawning when I'm on the Zombie side and I just want to face palm. Scientist's you need to watch out for in close range are the Zoologist, Marine Biologist and Chemist. These 3 will decimate you once they warp in on you in close range and Chomp Cannon won't save you when that happens. However sure if they aren't focused on you I can see how you like Chomp Cannon.

Why does the armoured Chomper need buffing if the other ones are? I dislike and discourage comparing and basing your arguments from the first game, which gives your argument no support because this isn't the first game, plants have to attack as well. Have you tried to attack a team of Zombies with a Chomper? How well did it go? I've mastered my Unicorn Chomper and well yes sometimes I managed to take out some of the back line before getting spotted but guess what, they instantly spawn in the exact same place and I'm eventually dead because they're shooting me from their spawn point and I can't enter it.
Also you seem to be defending Scientist and saying he two shots things, are you forgetting he has Warp on every variant and two healing abilities too?! He's the support healing class, which Sunflower can two shot someone in less than a second? Have you ever tried attacking and pushing Zombies with the Sunflower?
You don't sound mean when you call someone else bad, it just shows your lack of experience and knowledge, it's like you have no comeback or argument so you just call them bad. If you've replaced your Goop with a Chomp Cannon then you must be a bad Chomper Player, that ability is there to kill campers on roofs, but it doesn't kill anyone but Imp or a Scientist, it's Soldiers and Superhero that are camping and both have too much health to kill.
One final thing, you say Zombies need something that one shot any Plant? ZPG does 200/250 damage, I'm pretty sure that one shots everything.
This isn't a direct attack, or me trying to sound mean. I completely understand you might get kills and streaks in the first game, but you need to let that go. Get that same streak in this game, record it, and upload it here. I bet you're too busy playing the Scientist like everyone else to do that though.
The chomper needs NO help. He is already a cheap garbage kill character the way it is. Now that the rose got nerfed, everyone is running around with chompers spraying their spray weapon and gooping and burrowing like a bunch of sissies. No buff of any sort is needed on the chomper.

What are you doing here pal? Go and enjoy your broken Electro Brainz and Zoologist and quit crying about getting wrecked by a Chomper.
Chomper isn't overpowered, it needs fixing, and buffing to give it more attacking power. Go try and attack a team with one, even the Unicorn Chomper sucks. Sure you can get a few kills but as soon as that warp is on cool down you're just like any other Chomper...dead.
