Making First Garden Warfare free-to-play

I was wondering about the future of the shooter branch of PvZ as all three games are in a "limbo" without getting major updates, and it's unlikely that we will see GW3 in near future. But then I came to an idea that was the most implementable (in terms of money, that will require not that much i think) so the world could be reminded, even for just a minute, that these games are still alive and exist: how about making the first Garden Warfare free-to-play and releasing it on Steam (with that "poster" on the main page, idk how it's called)? People will see the game, play it, and also will find out that sequels also exists, and accounting the amount of the content that sequels have, some part of players will definitely buy them. That way, GW1 will be very much like the "demo" for the other games.

That's just a suggestion and I was just wondering what people will think about it, and if not, why this is not realizable from an economic state of things so please don't judge this post so critically.
