This is why I'm sort of surprised by why companies keep lying to consumers and not just be honest. It's pretty blatant that they made it for console on a PC yet couldn't bother to tailor the client for the actual PC. PC games have built in voice chat and they have actual options menus to turn it off completely or use PTT etc. The lack of FOV slider among other things is just icing on the usual cake. The most popular games ever are on PC especially online. Why EA and developers lie about the efforts is just salt in the wound.
I also reported this problem, that workaround is not acceptable. This was the most frustrating part for me, I enjoyed the game itself, but open mics completely took away from the enjoyment. I'm not sure if this was an oversight while porting the game to PC after the XBox launch, or if this was intended. Either way anyone that is a PC gamer would never support a open mic in game, the fact that you have to mute everyone as they are coming into the server is wrong.
I have a easy solution for everyone experiencing this problem and it is not a workaround, it works 100%, simply contact EA through Origin client if you purchased through Origin and request a refund.
After I got my money back that I spent, my problems with the game were gone!
If they patch the game and fix the issue I may come back to play, but more than likely at that time I will wait for a sale. This was a poor planned launch on both the Dev and Publisher.

Bump.
Still waiting for an official post. The open mic system is seriously frustrating beyond all hell. The amount of screaming people, the constant "shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" sound that mics tend to want to share with everyone, the background conversations, the televisions, the game sounds (we don't want to hear YOUR game so turn off your mic if you have speakers) The list goes on. I do not want to play this game on mute forever.
