Idk I think mech shoukd be removed from imps and made into a powerup that's only imps could pickup that would spawn randomly in the map. Plants could also get one for like sunflower or someone(maybe sunflower since there is a pic of a sunflower mech in the basement.)
That's would fix the problem of mech stacking on points and trying to game balance with the mech has to be near impossible as is.

Love your idea, instead of it feeling like Transformers it would feel like Mario Kart 64.
