No mouse or keyboard input in game at all

Question

So I recently installed PVZGW2 on my PC (I already did own it on PS4 but wanted to switch) and every time I open the game, I can't do anything! The cinematic starts playing and I have to wait through the entire thing and when I am in the game I don't receive any input from my keyboard or mouse inside the game. WASD doesn't work, simply pressing on MOUSE1 doesn't work. Trying to enter the settings doesn't work and so on. Can anyone help because I would appreciate it if I could actually play the game.

Yes it is. I would appreciate some help. I already tried reinstalling the entire game but it didn't do anything.

@AkkerDeMakker   First to check, do you have any drivers for your mouse or keyboard you can try to reinstall?

I do have engine 3 for my mouse but I don't see why that should be a problem because my mouse works inside the game (the cursor moves) but when I click or hover over a button nothing happens. Same thing with my keyboard (which does not have any special drivers)

@AkkerDeMakker   When troubleshooting an issue like this it is important to look at anything that could be involved with what we are trying to fix. If you do have a custom driver I would recommend reinstalling or even uninstalling and trying without it to see if this issue continues.
