[PC] PvZ Garden Warfare Visual/Graphic Glitch after playing too long.

Hello guys!

So i'm having a problem playing this game. After playing for an hour or 2, the terrains/enemy/teammates stop showing or should i say not loading properly. When i initially play the game for ex. after coming home for work, i could normally play the game without any problems. But after sometime, the problem happens. I'm guessing that this might be a hardware problem, so i want to ask the PC Hardware experts some advice regarding my machine and how it handles the game.

I use an MSI GE620DX (Gaming Laptop). These are the Specs of my Machine:
CPU: 2nd Generation Intel Core i5-2410M CPU 2.30GHz
Graphics Cards: NVidia GeForce GT555M GPU (2GB DDR3 VRAM) / Intel HD Graphics 3000
Memory: 8GB DDR3 RAM
HDD: 500GB HDD
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

I noticed, that when my Machine gets hot, the problem occurs. I don't know if i could do anything so that i could play consistently. What i do is i Rest my Machine for about 30 Mins, then i play again. And it's fine already. But what really annoys me, is that while i was playing, this thing happens. And while i was having a really good game, suddenly i can't play normally, because i can't see the terrain even the enemies.

Thank you

PS: Might this be caused by an internet connection problem?

@andrewstar03 You mention heating and I think you're looking in the right place. Laptops tend to be prone to heating issues too, especially if there is a dust build-up.

I know myself have had issues with this in the past. Elevating the laptop may help, so that the vents have better air flow. It might be worth trying to clear any dust buildup with compressed air. There are also 3rd-party cooling laptop trays, but I have never used one.

In-game it may be worth enabling vsync, to prevent very high framerate spikes and the requisite heat increase.

Your card manager may also allow you to set more aggressive heat management settings, it's worth having a poke around to see what options are available.

  • Thanks David!

I really don't know much about the Settings for Video in game. I will check on that, But right now, i'm currently running the Game in Low Settings (Auto Detect). And i have Disabled all the Possible settings. When i get home tonight, i will enable the V-Sync that you mentoined. I'm also planning on Opening my Laptop and Cleaning the Ventilations plus replacing the Thermal Paste this coming weekend. Oh and by the way, I'm using a laptop cooler. I Tried to use HWMonitor to see the Hardware Temps, both the the CPU and GPU are running on about 90+ deg C when i'm running the Game. I don't really know if that's normal. Another this that you mentoined is the Graphic Card Manager or Driver. My problem with it is that, when i installed the game, it doesn't show up on the application menu on Nvidia. What i do is i manually add it to the application lists, and changed the default graphics to use into my Nvidia Graphic Card. I don't know what settings to tweak there to get more performance of my Graphic Card. I'll try looking more into these things.

I'll get back to give some results.

Brub626, if you'd make a new topic and detail your issue.. I don't think it's the exact same thing.  Need your DXDiag and more detail on what is happening to you specifically.

    --------------------------------------------

I do not like V-sync, in almost any situation.  It will probably make it worse to tell you the truth.

Use a Frame Limiter.  In this game you can just add a file to do it... in games that don't have this features there other tricks to do it like through gpu profile editor or certain overlay programs.

The limiter will do that limit it... what it won't do is try to make the GPU match the refresh rate of the monitor which to me feels like it's MORE taxing not less.  Tearing is when two images are drawn at once, trying to force the gpu to update at the right times so a full frame gets on the window... see what I'm saying.  Tearing I personally don't mind in most games as I don't even notice it... I'm sure some people can't stand tearing and see it everywhere.

    Open Notepad.
    Copy and Paste this:

    GameTime.MaxVariableFps 30

    Save it as "user.cfg"

    You cannot have user.cfg.txt
enable "View Extentions of Known File Types" from Folder Options in Control Panel

Put it in your PvZ directory
\\Origin Games\Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare

Here are some other junk you can put it and play with the #... many of them don't even do anything I think

    RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 1
    PerfOverlay.DrawGraph 0
    PerfOverlay.DrawFps 1
    PostProcess.DofMethod 0
    PostProcess.BlurMethod 0
    PostProcess.DynamicAOEnable 0
    PostProcess.DynamicAOMethod 0
    Render.VSyncFlashTestEnable 0
    WorldRender.TransparencyShadowmapsEnable 0
    WorldRender.MotionBlurEnable 0
    WorldRender.MotionForceOn 0
    WorldRender.SpotLightShadowmapEnable 0
    WorldRender.SpotlightShadowmapResolution 256
    WorldRender.LightTileCsPathEnable 0
    RenderDevice.Dx11Enable 0
    RenderDevice.Dx11Dot1Enable 0
    RenderDevice.Dx11Dot1RuntimeEnable 0
    RenderDevice.VSyncEnable 0
    RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 0
