Pea Gatling
Either rate of fire or damage dealt need to be changed and quite possibly both. The amount of damage dealt so quickly earns vanquishes undeservedly so for a Pea caught off guard or out of position. B...
Gatling has been deadly in every GW game, so I’m not fussed by it. Peashooter is very vulnerable to ranged attacks when rooted, and I feel like the risk and reward of the gatling balance out.
I like @GammaX6’s suggestion of giving it a spin up delay, though. That would make it harder for peashooter to hide around corners and gun down any poor sap who wanders into their line of fire. Or run around a corner, root, and gun down a pursuer.
I agree that pea suped is mostly useless now that characters can sprint. It’s still good for reaching high ground, though.
@jnicol1975 Why don't people mention the fire rate buff of Pea Suped? It's a super powerful ability. Jumping higher also confuses the enemy teams and hinders their aim, making Peashooter a difficult hero to take down, especially since he has Homing Pea, he could out-gun others easily with higher fire rate and splash damage.
I talk about Peashooter from both perspectives, as someone who played him and got 20+ streaks and as a victim. I dislike going against him because he got the cheesy "Homing Pea" which is a Godly Upgrade in the hands of skilful players. I'm sure that Peashooter outperforms all other plant attack class heroes metric-wise.
He needs to be tuned down in certain areas to be on the same level as other attack heroes. Notice that I haven't said "nerf" him or anything. The Pea Gatling suggestion was there as a tune down. The ability itself would remain a viable and powerful ability in the hands of skilled players. Its damage and usefulness would stay intact vs Space Stations and other big targets. It's just that it's unfair when you play 100 ~ 125 heroes and you just can't do anything about it when you notice it late (e.g. around corners, cover, difficult to spot places due to his small size). There is no time to react to counter it, and some players do it from longer distances. With the sprint delay addition, Pea Gatling would become even more powerful.
@GammaX6To be honest I didn't know that Pea Suped gave Peashooter a fire rate buff. That certainly makes the ability more useful. Thanks for pointing it out 🙂
And you are quite right that jumping around like mad is a very effective tactic.
I will amend my assessment of Pea Suped from "mostly useless" to "less useful than it was in GW2" (due to having less utility for moving quickly, now that we have sprint).
As @GammaX6 points out, Pea Suped is actually really good. The fire rate increase is nothing to sneeze at and while hovering can make you a sitting duck, it can also mess with an enemy zombie's targeting as they expect you to land at a certain point and you stay airborne.
At first I was quite indifferent to it, but using it in PvE first, I had to change my mind.
As far as Gatling, it's quite good as usual. It can be extremely nasty at long range which feels a bit off as I normally associate Gatling weapons with point defense.
