Plant Leveling Tips?

Hey, i need help leveling my plant classes, more specifically, cacti, citrons and sunflowers, when playing these classes in a match i can barely get any levels, i only tend to get 1-3 levels per match, so does anyone know some good leveling methods for these classes? Thanks.

  • Just have fun playing and ranking up will come naturally. Also the bird in the sewer can be given 155 gold stars to get you just about to level 10. Have fun

I've been in your shoes.  People like to say "just play," but if you can only make a tiny handful of vanquishes in turf, then it's not terribly helpful advice.  Private matches vs. AI worked well for me during that period.

Sunflowers level fast if you focus on healing and revives.  G&G is a good mode for her because you can play by the base.  Try to go for xp from assists, base defense vanquishes, saved an ally, that sort of thing.  You can actually earn xp pretty quickly with sunflower by just going around the backyard keeping all the weeds healed up and not shooting many enemies so you don't escalate the game to heroes and champions.

I liked learning how to cactus playing on great white north.  Scientists make good enemies.  Cactus eventually went from being my worst class to one that I now main.   Citrons I did mostly in ops, but you can also earn a lot of xp playing him in vanquish type games with sunflowers as team mates.

When your AI games end, look to see how many xp you are earning per minute.  You will figure out which game modes and maps are the best earners for you for the various characters.

thing is @ILLINOIS1977, i despise cactus classes, my aim is pretty bad and i prefer characters with rapid fire weapons (soldiers, commando pea, astronaut, etc.) and 155 gold stars is a far too high price to get a single promotion as the only quests i tend to do are the A+ ones as they are pretty easy.

If you're leveling any character in the back yard, fill the four pots or bots with scaredy shrooms or hide and shoot bots.  You'll get quite a number of xp from them.  If you're doing cactus in the back yard, put out tall nuts or maidens near the flag area.  Once again, a good number of xp, this time from "cover assists."

  • For Sunflower and Cactus:

Set up a private server of Herbal Assault for Zomburbia.  Make your team empty and the opponents General Supremo.

Take out the gates' zombots first and then move near the abandoned car (do not pass the doors or the enemies will attack).  The only challenge to this method is killing your first soldier in the capture zone.  With the cactus, it's quite easy.  Go into drone mode and fly under the hole in the wall/ground and bomb the graveyard the moment you can see it from above the roof of the house.  Once a single soldier dies in the zone, you can kill those who come to revive him rather quickly and take advantage of bonus points for each kill.

The same with the Sunflowers except you want to stand on the sandbags under the tree (just before the car at the gates).  You might have to place a healing pot beside you, if you start taking soldier fire.  Focus on the first soldier falling in the graveyard and you'll get points for killing a zombie hero, capturing bonus, and critical bonus (if you can manage headshots).

Most of my characters were leveled up at the rate of 600 - 800 xp per minute doing this.  The main challenge is dropping your first enemy in the zone.

I can play the same level with scientist or super brains and level up all plants quickly (in similar methods but not the exact same).  I took several of my characters all the way to max in less than one hour and averaged over 1,000 xp per minute with some of my corn and peashooters by getting revenge from the grave bonuses.

    Hopefully that made sense....

  • Cactus = potato mines + garlic drone + accurate aim = ranking up cactus. Since you hate cactus play split screen and kill the 2nd controler zombie over and over again in  the sewer.

@ILLINOIS1977, I play the PC port of Garden warfare 2, so this method is completely out of the question and before anyone says "get a buddy and use them lol" i have no friends on Origin who play this, mainly because Steam is the main platform i tend to play on.
