I have won, or have gotten close to winning, on many post patch turf takeover games as plants. However, those who prefer zombies seem to play more tactically because of how Rose used to be-- survival depended on out thinking any plant encounter pre-patch. Most primary plant player became used to the "Zerg" mentality, knowing that eight roses had their back as they blindly dashed into a garden. It will even out soon enough as more plant players get their sea legs and think more competitively.

I think we do need to give it time to see how things balance out, but my experience with Turf Takeover has still been frustrating. Zombies have dominated all of the games I have played, which isn't much fun when you are a zombie because there doesn't seem to be much challenge, and when you play as a plant it is just frustrating.
i think the biggest challenge for Popcap will be balancing the characters for all the different game modes. I wouldn't be surprised if the game is fairly well balanced right now for a mode like Team Vanquish, or even modes where there are multiple objectives, but in a mode like Turf Takeover where everyone is fighting over a single point the zombies seem to have an advantage.
In some rounds there were a lot of scientists zapping in and killing plant characters before they can turn around. When the plants are all on the point trying to protect it you are also really susceptible to the imps grenade. As some people have pointed out also, it only takes one or two imp mechs to dominate the point. You can't sit on the point with an imp mech, and by the time the mech is down the zombies usually have the point. Super Brainz tornado can also completely clear the point of plants relatively quickly. If the zombies use an imp grenade and the Super Brainz tornado at the same time there is nothing you can do to stop from dying. These things are all really hard to counter. The thing about these abilities also is that the plants don't seem to have any equivalents, so while the zombies can pretty easily wipe out a whole team of plants if they are trying to hold the point, when attacking in Herbal Assault maps the plants do not have the same ability.
Gardens and Graveyards was one of my favorite modes in the first game (Taco Bandits is too much fun for Gardens and Graveyards to be my favorite all by itself). So far I have not enjoyed a single round of Turf Takeover in the new game. The mode was challenging but felt really well balanced in the first game. In this game I think there are still balance issues, but the game also just feels too chaotic to me. I die a lot more in this game, and usually a lot quicker, and a lot of the time I don't even know what hit me. In the process of trying to amp everything up it feels like they made this game a lot harder to play than the first one.
In the first game I was never the best, but I could still make a difference in a round and feel like I was contributing. In this game I generally feel useless in multiplayer matches. I love the backyard and the new Ops, but multiplayer just isn't fun for me, and fixing Rose doesn't seem to have made it much better. Does anyone else feel the same way?

as for one of the comments earlier in the topic, not being able to turn and shoot while reviving, as I'm sure you know it is possible.
I am sure it may not be an option for many here, buti will mention it anyway. this is very easy with the xbox elite controller as you have paddles underneath like a scuf controller.
it is possible in the game. its not really a game issue or even a controller issue, it is a human anatomy issue. perhaps the real answer is having a second thumb implanted.
anyway, look into an elite controller, expensive for sure, but worth it imo. it is useful in many games not just this one. helps with jumping and aiming and shooting at the same time as well.
