Plants torchwood not a fire variant?

Fire variant kills count in the community challenge, but why doesn't the plants baby torchwood tree count as a fire variant?  Is the limit only for 'regular' variants and not special unlocked ones?

  • Even though Torchwood has fire damage on abilities, he's technicaly not a fire variant as his primary weapon does normal damage (Smoldering Madness is counted as a skill).

  • @|Grev| nailed it, he deserves the solution on that one. This does bring up a good point on an older issue of some other characters that should count towards the toxic challenge. Like the hockey star, and the camp ranger for example. Although they don’t deal true toxic damage, it would be nice for them to count during those events. It just seems a little one sided in favor of the plants.
