Plants vs zombie garden warfare update problem

I bought the game today and it's saying there is an update that is needed. However, it keeps popping up saying 'there are no items available for purchase at this time'. Anyone know what's going on? go...

I commiserate with you all-my son got his xbox at Christmas and began begging for this game for his birthday on January 15th.  I went to the store and purchased it and we tried to play it.  Being new to the world of xbox it took me a while to realize that I had to activate his Gold Membership.  I assured him that night it would be ready to him to play before school on the16th. I received the same alert to update the game and could not activate any update. He went to school with my promise that I would figure it out.  I spent an hour on the forums trying the step by step fixes posted for the problem.  Then I found the service alert.  Short of fixing the problem, I was hoping by this time (Saturday, January 17 7:30am EST) there would at least be an estimate on when it might be up and running?  Thank you.

My son and I got impatient and went ahead and tried to see if the game would work... so we launched the game and I'm happy to tell you that it looks like part of the game is working some, but still not 100%. We don't get the same update errors anymore and I am allowed to download the free "Legends of the Lawn" add-on. I started the download about 10 minutes ago and it's only at 14%... I'll keep you posted to see if anything else works after it's completely downloaded.

      Download is complete, but it is still saying that the Legends of the Lawn download is available. I can't get passed that to play the game from any menu item. ☹️ This is really frustrating!
