Plants vs Zombies Game of the Year Edition - unlock code doesn't match system

I purchased the original PvZ for PC from Popcap back in 2010.  At some point, the game stopped launching and I had to get a new download from iWin/Pogo, which was the new apparent manager/owner of the Popcap games.  I have a "game of the year" version that has been running fine from them until about a month ago, when it no longer launches and I get the "unlock code doesn't match system" message when I try to launch the game.

I contacted EA and "Deepanshu" didn't understand what I was asking at all.

I just want to play the game I paid for.

Has anyone else experienced this issue since the iWin/Pogo deactivation on September 1st 2019 and, if so, what have you done to rectify it?

PC, Windows 8.1

PvZ can be launched through the Origin client which can be downloaded here. (This is required to launch EA games on PC)

Hey there! I'm sorry to hear about the experience you had with our Support team and we want to make sure you can recover the games you've purchased in the past.

Have you tried reaching back out to Support staff to clarify with the EA Advisors there may be some miscommunication and need help recovering the game? If you open up your Origin client and select Origin in the top left corner>Order History, you can see if you're on the correct account in which you've purchased the game on (or redeemed the code) back in 2010.

I don't know what an Origin client is.

I bought the game from PopCap in 2010.  I have contacted EA help, iWin help and Pogo help and so far, none of the SIX interactions I have had with customer service reps has produced a working solution.

The closest I have come is that i have been instructed by EA to delete certain files on my system.  I did.  The game starts BUT it needs to contact PopCap's website to verify.  Since EA has purchased and dismantled Popcap, the game cannot "phone home" to authorize so I have a game I can play in trial mode only.

Your "solution" is not a solution, thanks.

After a total of eight email correspondences and no help from EA at all for almost a month, I finally found a playable version of the game on an archival website and downloaded it.  Now I am playing the game I own, even if it's a different copy.

Thanks for the info on the Origin client, but I don't think I want anything to do with EA ever again.
