You bought an ONLINE MULTIPLAYER GAME? What did you expect? And you can tether your laptop so you dont have to pay for a wireless adapter, youtube it.

The very front of the box says that it requires Xbox Live Gold.
EA can't control how retailers advertise their games, but if you really don't think that it was made clear that this was an online game then you'll have to take it up with Argos further.
