Plants vs. Zombies GOTY Edition won't launch.

I recently took Origin's On the House offer for Plants vs Zombies GOTY Edition.  However, after downloading, installing took an inordinate amount of time (15-20 minutes) and finally when it did install, when I click play...  Nothing.  The game never launches.  Even when I launch the game's EXE directly from its own folder, nothing happens.  It doesn't even attempt to load the window and then crash with an error.  Nothing happens no matter how the game is launched.  It doesn't load a new window and as far as I can tell from watching the Task Manager, the game never even makes it to opening a process.

Other games install and run as usual, but this one refuses, no matter what I try, and it's been that way for over a week now.
