Playing PVZGW2 on Xbox One and PC

Can a player of PVZGW2 on Xbox One play online with someone using the the PC version?

I know someone who has the PC version of this game but my PC isn't up to spec. I want to know if I get an XBox One, can I play online with the PC user, or only other XBox or PS4 users.

Thanks

@billycombo No, the game environments are separate, each system (Xbox/PS4/PC) has its own separate player pool.

Interestingly, there has been some rumblings lately in the industry about cross-platform play, but we're not there yet. I suspect it won't be possible to retroactively apply even if it does become the new standard. Besides, it's unlikely that PC and console players would be put together, given the aiming advantage of a keyboard and mouse.

Anyway, forgive my tangent. 🙂 As mentioned above the answer is a no, sorry.

    Thanks for the post.

Thanks a lot David. I'll invest in the PC upgrade since I have already bought the PC version

Each platform is its own separate thing.  Unfortunately, you can't even share game data among different platforms.

Is there a way to balance this? For the new game I really think letting us all play together would go a long way to keeping populations healthy for all modes and let us forum lurkers play together! I haven't played a shooter with a controller since Golden Eye and Perfect Dark; I just prefer mouse/keyboard for this style of game but I don't an advantage over someone using a controller, but being able to hang with the forum homies would be great.
