PopCap, For the Love of Chomper change the Weekly Challenges!!

The weekly playlist feels like 💔 due to the annoying missions that go against how the mode is supposed to play. I'm stuck on the second challenge: vanquish a boss. You can literally vanquish it half way all by yourself, die , respawn, run back to it and continue shooting for a bit and it still doesn't count as your vanquish if another person shoots at it in between. These challenges are not in the least bit fun. They are rage inducing and need to be changed. I doubt the devs still read our posts, maybe someone who is capable of notifying them could suggest changing the challenges. I remember them adjusting some before.

Change them to:

  • Win 1 match
  • Deal damage to a boss (this will still be infuriating if your won team always spawns the boss, but it is way better than "vanquish a boss")
  • WIn 3 (or 5) matches (I don't actually know what the 3rd mission is, as I have been trying to complete the second one for 2 hours 😮)

The 2. mission already encourages players to open the chest, so the 1st mission is pointless and makes it so you most likely won't be able to vanquish the opposing boss in the match. I actually helped a dude from the other team to get his 2nd mission today and he then tried to help me as well. AT one point there was a second guy in the opposing team not shooting at me and trying to spawn the boss for me. I was 75% done vanquishing the Baron, when a third zombie who wasn't into teamwork decided to vanquish me. Then, someone else did the last 25% of the work and I wasn't credited for it. This mode makes me want to punch a zombie in the teeth with super sonic speed, to say the least. This teamwork continued for an hour. I was placed in the same team as the other guy in between and we were a great team. I just couldn't take the pains of this mode anymore and decided to quit.

  • My brother completely agrees with what you just said, and I almost completely agree with them. We were attempting to complete these challenges the other day, and in about 1 hour straight of playing, we only managed to open the Boss Chest once each, and only just managed to open the chest as well.

I have not got up to the third challenge as me and my brother indeed had trouble battling a boss, because our team kept summoning it. We had to let the enemies get the boss chest so we can vanquish the boss, but our team continuously opened the chest without our interaction.

The third challenge is going to be frustrating in itself. You need to win 5 matches. I know this because I checked the forums on the threads where the event has been on in the past.

Perhaps the first challenge could even become "Attempt to Open a Boss Chest", which means you actually have to go and try to open a boss chest, but even if you fail because it disappears and the game moves on to the next point, you get vanquished, or someone else opens it first, you still get the challenge anyway. This can be faster than winning the game and your enemy team might end up opening up the chest anyway, summoning the boss on their team, which can lead to the second challenge, to either vanquish the boss, or as you suggested, deal some damage to the boss, which I and my brother would most definitely prefer. The third challenge can be good if you are doing well, but winning 5 matches can be a drag. That said, it does not really matter if you enjoy Turf Takeover, but perhaps it should be "Complete 5 Matches" instead.

I find that in each challenge, me and my brother have to do the following:

    1. Employ all these special tactics, so that my brother can open the chest first, than me. We have to do anything in our power to stop enemies and allies opening the chest first, along with the point being captured too fast because you need to wait before you can even open the chest in the first place.

    2. We need to basically do nothing and let the enemies open the chest. Then, we need to pour as much damage as possible on the boss. My brother will deal high damage to the boss, I will revive my brother if he gets vanquished, while I will continue attacking the whole time.

    3. Contest the objective at Overtime or find a different lobby.

@benn1nat0r I totally agree with you, this is the only Weekly Event I remember where you actually have to go out of your way and do annoying things to get the challenges, it is actually ridiculous.

Below, I will write my weekly challenge tips, for those who dare to do them, or hopefully to help those finding the challenges frustrating. For now, that is it! The challenges should be changed!

My updated weekly challenge tips (dare I say) for Boss Turf Takeover are as follows:

    1. Open a Boss Chest.

    • The Boss Chest in every map and area always appears in a fixed location. Try to memorise where they will be and remember for future.
    • When 1/3 of an objective is captured, it will appear and you need to wait 20 seconds before you can open it. Try and start heading there and with your abilities then.
    • While waiting, either hide nearby. If possible, attack approaching enemies. Use your abilities to try and vanquish them if you need to.
    • When you are able to open the chest, try to start doing so as soon as you can. This reduces the chance of allies or enemies beating you to it.
    • While you are opening the chest, you can only attack or look around, and it takes a while to open the chest. Shields that do not count as abilities can be used to your advantage, if you have a shield that is an ability, deploy it first. You may be able to use other abilities that provide you with cover first (such as Super Stink Cloud or Casting Shadows). If you can utilise Team-Up mechanics, all the better.

    2. Vanquish a Boss.

    • I cannot believe I am saying this, but you have to do the exact opposite of the first challenge, you have to let your opponents get the Boss Chest.
    • Use high damaging attacks and abilities to deal lots of damage to the boss.
    • If you get a shared vanquish on the boss, you still get the challenge. You do not need the direct vanquish.
    • Try to stay unvanquished while doing this challenge. If so, try to land occasional hits on the boss, even if you need to go back and heal.
    • Move and jump frequently while attacking if you want to avoid getting hit by enemies. Use your abilities as needed to vanquish the boss or to avoid being hit.

    3. Win 5 Matches.

    • You can employ the same tactic as I would say most Weekly Events: you can try and join in a lobby going in your favour. If so, improve your chances again by helping your team out as much as possible.
    • If your team won a match quite feasibly, perhaps stay in that lobby as you might win many consecutive matches in a row, especially if you help out as much as possible.
    • Contest the objective at Overtime. Otherwise, you might lose. Try to use attacks and abilities for as long as possible on the objective to keep yourself unvanquished.
    • Try to get the Boss Chest so that your enemies do not just have to fight only your team on the objective, but they also need to vanquish the boss. The boss can also help contest well.
    • Work as a team as well as you can. If most of your allies get vanquished, perhaps head back to your spawn area and stick with them!

Cool, that is it for now!

Actually, this post reminds me, I wonder why Boss Team Vanquish, is very different compared to this event in terms of challenges. For instance, you only have to win games and get vanquishes in that event, but in Boss Turf Takeover, you need to vanquish bosses and open Boss Chests.
