People complained about the upgrade packs in GW2, the ones that gave Torchwood, Toxic Brainz, etc. for cash as opposed to doing the trials and getting them in packs and called it pay to win. I honestly didn't mind as by the time they added those upgrade kits, everyone I knew already had them anyway, so it felt more like catch up packs to me.
With the problems BfN already has, if they sold actual new characters or upgrades or other such things in the map, the optics for that would be atrocious. I'd be far happier if Rux sold stuff like that Everlasting Crown from GW2 or extra character slots (instead of 3 per character like we have now). Even Zero's latest video on this mentions he thinks new characters should be open to all players and not purchased for cash and he's more open to microtransactions than average.
I minded (the packs with beloved characters we had to earn).
If I ever make my own game, nothing will cost money and only characters/abilities to be obtained will be in-game rewards only.
