At this point it just seems like the company is taunting their loyal customers.
They don’t care. Just made hasty changes to input more ads under the guise of ‘balance changes’, following the model of other collectible card games where a new card forces a change in the meta game and becomes a desired object. Then later a card will be juiced to counter it. Artificially creating an arms race to sell more cards. And no point play testing for balance. Just make some leet changes and let the gamers fire test them.
Figuring the early complainers would ID the kinks for a hasty patch. After which they could ignore it in favor of other games they support.
But the lack of play testing is so blatant they ended up wrecking a highly playable game and make it clear they neither understand nor care about the property that someone else designed and they bought up. The same thing they killed off collectible skirmish games like Mage Knight. Mechwarrior. D&D miniatures. New changes alienate the core customers break game balance and the game dies without support or oversight.
Another instance of greed poisoning innovation.
EA. Hire back a Popcap programmer who understands the game. Fix it. Tweak the strategy. Don’t treat the players like dumb animals to be farmed for their cash. Act like you care and they will stick with it and promote it for you.
