PvZ: Battle for Neighborville - PEASHOOTER
So, this is the first part of what might end up being around 20 posts where I suggest new abilities and upgrades for every plant and zombie in Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville.
I know the game is probably never getting updated again, but I still enjoy throwing out ideas for a possible (copium) new third-person PvZ shooter.
I’m starting with Peashooter.
ABILITIES
Chili Bean Bomb: Spit an explosive bean that detonates after a short delay.
Pea Gatling: Transform into a high-powered turret while rooted in place.
Pea Suped: Jump higher, move faster, and fire faster.
Now, I also wanted to include the idea of having ability variants. These changes are too big to just be considered regular upgrades, so I’m listing them as alternative abilities.
ABILITY VARIANTS
Chili Bean Bomb
- Increase the number of bean bombs from 1 to 3, but each one has a smaller blast radius and lower damage (50 damage in the inner blast and 10 in the outer radius).
- Instead of exploding instantly, Chili Bean Bomb leaves behind a fire cloud that deals damage over time to zombies standing inside it (similar to Foot Soldier’s Super Stink Cloud).
Pea Gatling
- Turns Pea Gatling into a pea sniper that deals heavy damage per shot.
Pea Suped
- Removes gliding, but massively increases your fire rate and reload speed for a few seconds.
UPGRADES
(I’m also working on universal upgrades for all plants/zombies and new class upgrades, but I’ll save that for another post and focus on this character for now.)
Pea Cannon
- Zoom: Increased zoom while aiming (1)
- Pea Reload: Vanquishing an enemy reloads 3 peas (2)
- Extended Magazine: Increased ammo capacity (2)
- Ice Pea: Slightly slows zombies on hit (3)
- Fire Pea: Briefly applies burn on hit but reduces hit damage (3)
- Charged Pea: Hold and release to fire a larger pea that deals more damage in an area (4)
Chili Bean Bomb
(already in the game)
- Pro Spitter: Chili Bean Bomb travels further (1)
- Comfort Bean: Cooldown refreshes twice as fast if it didn’t damage any zombies (2)
- Bean Party: Faster cooldown refresh when earning a vanquish with it (3)
- Time Bomb: Takes longer to explode, but deals more damage in a slightly larger area (3)
- Cluster Bomb: Explodes faster and deals less damage, but leaves several mini-beans behind that explode shortly after (4)
- Dark Beans: Carry an extra Bean Bomb (5)
- Instant Bean: Explodes very fast (6)
Pea Gatling
- Quick Setup: Faster activation and deactivation time (1)
- Reload Gatling: Gain ammo when dealing critical damage (2)
- Explosive Gatling: Enemies explode when vanquished (3)
- Vampire Gatling: Gain 30 health on vanquish (3)
- Mobile Gatling: Allows slight movement while active, but with less ammo and slightly reduced damage (4)
- Protective Gatling: Increase max health to 300 while active (5)
- Pea Tank: Small chance to fire explosive peas that deal double damage in an area (6)
Pea Suped
- Air Pea: Slightly increased movement speed while gliding (1)
- Sprint Mode: Trade jump height for increased movement speed (2)
- Double Jump: Grants a double jump while active (3)
- Feed the Beast: Faster cooldown refresh on all abilities while dealing damage during Pea Suped (3)
- Combat Adrenaline: Duration is extended after earning a vanquish while active (4)
- Firepower: Reloads Pea Cannon and reduces the cooldown of your other abilities when activated (5)
SKINS
As for skins, there are way too many ideas to fit into one post, but Peashooter seriously needs more of them.
There are VERY FEW, which is kind of crazy considering it’s one of the most iconic and beloved characters in the game, and basically the “default” character of BfN.
Some ideas:
- More simple recolor skins
- A legendary Ice Peashooter skin
- A legendary Fire Peashooter skin
- Maybe a shadow/dark Peashooter skin with purple and black colors
- New accessories like Repeater-style eyebrows, berry-themed accessories (like Berry Shooter from GW), or frog-themed cosmetics since the character is already green
That’s all for now!
If you have any ideas of your own, feel free to drop them in the replies :)
