If possible, you can try uninstalling/reinstalling Battle for Neighborville and see if that helps.
Have you also checked the Speaker Icon in your Task Bar, to make sure the correct output device is selected?

I'm having this issue too. I've updated everything and checked it a million times over and spent hours going over it but after BFN is open for about 30 seconds maybe even less, the audio cuts out. Not just the game, everything, no sound is played at ALL unless the game is closed.

Me estaba pasando lo mismo, cuando abria el pvz sonaba pero cuando se me metia en los servidores ya no.
Lo que hice fue minimizar la ventana del juego y en la barra de tareas a la derecha me aparecia un icono de microfono, solo le di clic derecho (o izquierdo, no me acuerdo bien TT) y solo le di click en configuracion de microfono y le desactiove la petañita a la opcion "permitir que las aplicaciones accedan al microfono" y listo bro
