PVZ garden warfare 1 error when attempting to play multiplayer. Ops works fine.

I have played the xbox one version before at the tail end of 2019 with no issues in multiplayer. But I sold my copy of it and went back to the xbox 360 version. 2 days ago I picked up the xbox one version again, and whenever I try to play multiplayer I get this error. I have an open NAT type and a strong internet connection. I can play garden warfare 2 fine on xbox one and PC, and I can play garden warfare 1 fine on PC and xbox 360. Any help or suggestions about this issue would be greatly appreciated. (I play on xbox one S specifically)
