PvZ GW extremely laggy

This game is practically unplayable.  I have a decent rig and it just plays horrifically slow.  Battlefield 3, Crysis 2 & 3 (although both of these games had issues in terms of full screen vs windowed box but at least they were not laggy when you played them) play fine.  I feel like I must be running at 5 fps.  In addition, I go into the video settings and I change to a custom resolution but then say borderless and I lose my ability to change my resolution.  So I have a feeling I'm being bumped back up to my native 3200x1800.  Why would I want my game in a tiny box while over 50% of screen is one giant black border?  EA here is a thought change my desktop resolution so my game runs at full screen at the resolution I want?  Crysis 2 & 3 did this to me where if I played it full screen it would be shrunk down into this tiny box, so +1 for offering a borderless option in this but -10 the actual implementation.  I don't understand why the other major gaming service can do this but you can't?  I have Dragon Age for both Origin and the other service and I'm going to test by installing on both platforms and seeing if origin gives me video problems but the other service will run fine. This is so frustrating.

Make sure the 750m is being used:

nVidia Control Panel -> 3D Settings -> Program Settings -> Add Program (PvZ.exe) -> High Performance Processor

    ---

Close any overlay programs  (FRAPs, RiviaTuner, Teamspeak overlay)  These conflict with Origin in Game and usually will result in terrible frame rates.

  • I did what you said and I also went and manually changed my desktop resolution to match my game resolution.  I should have done your step first and tried and then do my second step and see what happens.  I have a feeling that the game decides to when you choose borderless to go back up the native desktop resolution rather than stay at the resolution you selected, hence losing the ability to change resolution when you select borderless.  This by the way is a stupid stupid move.  I don't understand why the game doesn't change down the desktop resolution for the game and then when you exit do it again.  I'll run the game borderless at my full desktop resolution of 3200x1800 and if it's laggy then I think that will settle that the issue is that the card can't drive the game at that size.  Which again EA are you listening, have the game change down the desktop resolution instead of offering me a letter box game that looks like an iPhone app on an iPad running at 1x.
