@Redlove108 dude, i had your same though at the start, but sometimes its not about learning tricks or tips, the thing that help you the most is your decision making. As long you play the game you will eventually increase it and you will not even notice, because its a natural thing. Continue playing the class, dont give up. Trust this class is already Op, and my only hope is to not get a * nerf, overall frozen one (not because frozen citron is op, but since zombies are spamming tanks for days, they will eventually complain after if Citron will be buffed.
Back in the beta Rose was considered UP, when she was fine.. buffed and nerfed to a point she's less useful than when she was in the beta. I dont want the same thing will happen to Citron again, and im right to think this, because Citron has nothing to do with the fact that plants are losing.
Plants are losing because Sunflower's and Cactus can't stand their counterparts, and on the otherside there are many Zombies which are incredible overpowered like Electro Brainz, Ac Perry, Tennis Star and Park Ranger, Lil drake. Whenever all these classes will eventually get a nerf, game will be much more enjoyable.

By the way, if you feel that is hard to this class to get any Xp, you're right, is hard for any support class, and even for some carryes with Low Dps, for example i had hard times with Ice PeaShooter.

If you dont feel confident, you can do some Garden Ops until you reach elite 5. Once you get Elite 5 you have the upgrades you need to play the class.

Overheat and Mobility Upgrade are just staple and Damage Upgrade increase +1 both splash and direct damage... is +2 damage for each tick 🙂). You will notice a huge change.

Most of classes works only with Upgrades, for example Law Pea is pretty orrible before the reload Upgrades, but once you get both he is incredible strong.

Also why you think the Beam does low damage? You know at each ticki deals both Direct and Splash Damage right? They are just splitted but its not that bad at all.

For the XP you're completely right, Devs are incredible stupid, assist should just give the same amount of XP, and that's why support classes are discouraged to play.. fair point.

For the coins i dont honestly know, i read on Reddit you just earn coin based on how much time the match lasted, so pratically if i ddnt read wrong you just earn the same coin your allies are earning, but im not sure.

Look my friend, yesterday i won pretty much more than 50% matches as a plant, at least on Team Vanquish. I did many good scores with him, so i know what am i talking about.
This class is one of the few good ones in the current meta. Whenever i win its mostly because plant team is balanced and i noticed an increase number of Citrons Players.
At least on Origin, seems on pc meta is much more balanced, i cant really explain that.

EDIT: To clarify, for the clunky Empeach animations just group with a friend. You can premade with him and coordinate or just follow one of your team-mate and mostly will be fine. If you are not going to win many 1vs1, you will win for sure any 2vs2 with an AoE stun. I used to duo premade with a friend that mains Alien Flower.

Believe me or Not, Frozen Citron and an Alien Flower are a deadly combination.
Zombies are generally strong in 1vs1 scenario, thats why when you play Zombie you can play like a noob, dont give a **** about your team-mates and enjoying playing Rambo for 10 minutes.
Plants are not meant to play like this. Plants are stronger in teamfights, so dont go alone at 1vs1 people, just play with your group. Even if you dont agree with their movements pattern, sometimes is better to do something wrong together rather than playing your own game and lose.

This is at least on team vanquish, the only thing that you cant deal in turf are Mechs conquisting gardens, even my guide cant help with that, Mechs need to be limited, so just play this mode and with Citron, if you will get any good you will going to carry matches alone just by yourself.

Well one of the big reasons someone should play Citron is that he can deal with the Superhero/Imp/Scientist Zombie meta - mostly thanks to his EM Peach and his beam attacks. If you catch a 125 hp or lower class out of position, they WILL be dead or hurting if you hit them with the EM Peach. Your success depends on how quickly you can adjust from lobbing the peach correctly to being able to aim and fire your weapon at him - which can be devastating if you can freeze a character in that moment as the Frozen Citron.

He is relatively tanky as a character thanks to his HP and his shield. (He's also surprisingly nimble in ball form and tricky to hit if you do it right) While it doesn't always help at close range, Citron can still do well there (or at mid range) thanks to his abilities. While the Citron can't annihilate people quickly like the Scientist, he DOES have twice the HP, a shield, and an aoe stun that'll usually let you kill a Scientist or Imp no problem - even if they regain mobility.

Another big part of your team's overall success is your team comp. Having too many of one class (Usually Corn plants side) generally hurts rather than helps. For example, all the damage in the world means nothing if you don't have a healer or a tank to peel for you. (Kinda like any MMO)

Experience with any class helps - and Citron is no different. (And having experience with something other than Corn is usually a godsend to a Plant Team's offense or Defense.) I generally do pretty well with the guy myself, but as I implied in my other post, it took time to learn how to play the class. I usually play somewhat aggressively, which usually works out for me - as I always seem to go positive. It helps that you can transform on a dime and roll away quickly if things get too rough.

Part of WHY I enjoy playing Citron so much is that I get to be "THAT GUY" to the enemy team - I LOVE stopping engis from setting up TPs thanks to the Citron's mobility and ability to stay there to harass. I enjoy making overconfident Scientists/Imps/Superheroes cry when I ruin their big pushes/counterpushes with EM Peach. If I'm feeling EXTRA sadistic, I go Frozen Citron for that extra Icy utility - for example, I love to freeze (and later kill) barreled Deadbeards hoping for an easy clutch kill. 

Good guide

One thing that should be emphasized a bit more is the Spin Dash. When caught in a Turbo Twister with EMPeach unavailable, do not give up. The moment this happens, turn into Citron Ball and use Spin Dash on or away Super Brainz to escape the situation.

@Redlove108, Citron does have somewhat of a ninja mask accessory. Have it gold currently and it looks amazing on the Party Citron.

IM SICK TIRED OF ALL THESE MOB , POP AND KERNEL CORNS FEEDING, GOING AFK AND THEN CHANGING TEAM, i wish he ddnt get a buff last patch so at least casual players woulded have continued spamming Toxic Pea Shooter and getting carryed and Pro Gamers playing BBQ like they was already doing. Jeez.
The week when Mob Corn was Free and Electro Brainz too was the most horrible one 🙂)))
